AN: I know this isn't exactly breaking news; it just popped into my head.

Bones is the property of Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.

"Hey, Babe, where you off to?" Booth asked Hannah as she moved toward the door with her gym bag in hand.

"Temperance offered to teach me some martial arts techniques. She said I should be able defend myself if I'm going to be spending time in dangerous neighborhoods." She grinned and wandered over to him. "That reminds me. She told me I should convince you to get me a permit to carry a gun. She said that even though you won't let her carry one, the fact that we have entered into a "social contract to engage in a monogamous sexual relationship" means that you should be willing to get me a gun. Or something like that. So how about it, Seeley, you gonna get me a big, shiny gun?"

"Since you are a lot less likely to shoot people at the drop of a hat than she is, I will definitely give it serious consideration," he said. "You know, because of our social contract and all the sex. Which reminds me," he added, "she sent home some vitamins for you. She said they were good for building bone density, so your femur won't convulse anymore."

"I think it's a-vul …" she paused in horror. "Omigod, I started to correct you about something bone-related. Maybe I've been spending too much time with Temperance."

"Yeah, she's really taken an interest in you," Booth chuckled. "Vitamins, karate lessons, guns. Next she'll be offering to hire a bodyguard for you."

"Actually …"

"Seriously? She offered?" Booth looked thoughtful. "It's not such a bad idea. Not her paying for one, but having someone to keep an eye on you when I'm at work …"

"Don't start that again," Hannah glared. "Anyway, I guess she's turned me into her pet project."

"Nah, Bones is just worried about you. It's her squinty way of showing she cares," Booth explained.

Hannah looked thoughtful. "She came to visit me at the hospital. She told me I should take safer assignments so that you wouldn't have to worry about me." Understanding dawned in her eyes. "She's not worried about me, she's worried about you," she gasped. It's her way of showing she cares about you."

Booth started to deny it, but he realized it was true. Bones had decided that she couldn't give him what he needed, but she wanted him to be happy. So now that he had begun a relationship with Hannah, Bones was determined that he get a chance for 30, 40, 50 years … because she loved him. Bones loved him.
