I brought you back the most perfect berries,
but when I got there, you'd left.
"We can make our special treat again," you said.
You promised.
But you're not here.
Faith had looked so sad. It was a rare emotion for her, but it had been showing up more frequently lately. That's why Wigglytuff had been so pleased to have something to do; even though Faith's smile was tired and fake, her Pokemon had been convinced she could make everything better if she just did well enough.
Faith was gone.
At first, Wigglytuff tried not to panic. She was certain this was the spot she'd left the girl in – there was the stump she'd sat on, in the middle of the clearing. But she ran around frantically for several minutes, sniffing the air, hoping she'd been mistaken. The wind still carried the subtle scent of Faith's perfume, and Wigglytuff were not known for their wide sense of smell. This must have been the area.
But that couldn't be right, because Faith wasn't here. Just her smell.
Panic began to overtake the poor pink Pokemon, still holding berries in its paws as her mind raced around the only available explanation. She could deny it no further, after stumbling across a scattering of feathers.
I see the feathers here,
from when you tried to take off.
But that can't be right –
these feathers belong to a completely different Pokemon!
They carried Faith's scent though, if only faintly.
From past experience, Wigglytuff could identify the signs of a flying type Pokemon preparing for lift-off. The wings created quite a mess, scattering and snapping twigs and small debris as they tried to take off. There would be claw marks where their talons had scraped the dirt as they finally sprung into the air. And then, of course, there were the feathers. All the telltale signs were here.
The berries she'd collected fell to the ground, as she suddenly felt quite weak. Wigglytuff looked to the ground, without really seeing anything – the berries, the ground, the feathers . . . they all melded into one as she tried to suppress tears. It was an unsuccessful attempt. Her thin little lips trembled and her pudgy face scrunched up, the knot in her throat made it difficult to breathe . . . 'This is abandonment,' she admitted finally, and the water works were suddenly let lose with just a single gasping breath.
Was I not good enough for you?
I'm sorry! I would have tried harder if I'd known!
But she'd always assumed she and Faith had shared a special bonding, even between a trainer and a Pokemon. Wigglytuff wasn't her first Pokemon, or the most recent, but she was the one Faith turned to when she needed a friendly hug. She was the one Faith bought pretty yellow ribbons for, and the one who accompanied her on long walks by the sunset beach. She'd been present the day Faith finally accomplished getting all eight of her badges, and she'd cheered louder than any other Pokemon had. Was it really that easy for humans to throw that kind of love away? Or had it only been . . .
. . . Nothing?
Don't own Pokemon.
I'll probably continue this, but it really depends on how I'm feeling . . . I only sort of have a plot in mind, but if there's enough interest to make it worth continuing, I will try to forge ahead. However, in the case it doesn't get updated, I would like you all to know that the trainer isn't necessarily a bad person. She feels just as bad about it as Wigglytuff, but she's gotten herself into quite a mess and doesn't want to drag her most beloved Pokemon down with her.
"Faith" was a name chosen randomly. She's not really an original character or anything like that . . .
Also, because people seem to take everything out of proportion, this isn't anything like a Pokemon falling 'in love' with a trainer or vice versa.
Hopefully, this wasn't too hard to follow . . .
