A/N: okay, this is just a one-shot my friend Jacob and I came up with randomly. We were brainstorming and brainstorming, then he said something and I was all suddenly "ORIHIME HAS IT!" (You will understand this in a moment) I got some odd looks from people, but it was worth it.
CYBER HIGH FIVE, JAYSHOCK!
This sort of takes place after the whole story. Don't worry; there are no real spoilers.
Disclaimer: Bleach I no own. Sucks, doesn't it? Because if I did, THIS WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN!
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
"If I were the rain that binds together the earth and the sky, whom in all eternity will never mingle, would I be able to bind two hearts together?"
. . . . . . . . . . . .
He'd regenerate, right? She'd seen him do it.
Could something that was dust put itself back together again?
She already knew the answer. He wasn't coming back. He was gone.
It was so long ago, when Ulquiorra died, but she found herself still dwelling on it. She still could not believe that he was gone.
But the past was the past. Those that were lost stayed lost. Right?
He really couldn't be totally lost. At least he lived in her memories; she could still perfectly remember the color of his eyes, the subtle ways his face would shift according to his suppressed emotions, the exact tone of voice he had when he called her 'woman'.
"Oi, Inoue-san, you okay?" said a familiar voice.
She looked up. Kurosaki-kun had a vaguely concerned expression on his face. Had her despair been that obvious? "Oh, I'm fine. I guess I'm just lost in thought," Orihime said.
"Are you sure? You just seem a bit, you know, depressed."
Orihime nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure."
In truth, she wasn't at all sure.
. . . . . . . . . . ..
"Urahara-san, I have something to ask you," Orihime said after taking a sip of tea.
"Of course, of course. Ask away~," he said in his normal upbeat manner.
"Is it possible that Ulquiorra might regenerate?"
Urahara took on a much more somber expression. "Ah. I see. Well, no. I would think not. There would have to be some major body part left over such as maybe an arm."
So that was it. There really was no chance.
She finished her tea and bowed politely, "I guess I'll be going now."
Getting out of there of fast as she could, she started to feel tears welling up in her eyes.
. . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .
She had a nice, long, cry.
He was gone.
Gone.
GONE.
No one would ever see him again. Ulquiorra.
A knock came at door.
Absorbed in her sorrow, she decided to ignore it.
Moments passed and another knock came, much more urgent than before.
She wiped as much tears from her eyes as she could and took a deep breath. Slightly annoyed, she walked over to the door and opened it.
"Look, I'm kinda busy right no-" she stopped as she realized who stood in her doorway.
Those emerald green eyes, that untidy black hair, that blank expression. Ulquiorra.
Her eyes widened. No, she had to be hallucinating. Ulquiorra was gone.
He grabbed her chin to get a better look at her face. "You have been crying," he stated, no emotion what-so-ever present in his voice.
Orihime looked shocked. "I – I thought you were dead," she stammered.
"I regenerated."
"How? There was nothing left of you."
"Yes, there was," he said blankly.
She was beginning to get annoyed by his lack of explanation. "What was left?"
He paused, "The heart."
She just stared at him.
"You should know, woman," He said, hands in his pockets, "You have it."
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
OMG I loved it too! The idea, I mean. If you think you can write this better, please, do so! I'd love to see this idea brought to life in a different way. Just PM me if you do 'cause I wanna read it!
I realize there are a few holes in this. Sorry. I just can't figure out how to fill them without totally re-writing the story.
