Author's note: I'm supposed to be filling a prompt by Grayglube, but then this happened. I think this came to me after an appointment with my gynecologist. I think there's a link there...

Part of my Leaving Marks universe. So, for those who don't know, Claire is Freeze Girl.

TOO MUCH

"Wait, wait." Fingers splayed over his broad chest, she felt him holding himself very still over her, muscles rigid under her fingertips from the gargantuan effort exerted to keep from overcoming himself.

Claire shuddered, unable to stop the shivers that came on unbidden. "Wait," she whispered again, something akin to fear robbing her of her voice and wrapping her in cold sheets. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I-"

"Claire." His warm, warm hands cradled her face. "It's okay. I don't know what I'm doing either." And she felt them, the fine tremors in his voice, the fine sheen at his temples, the rapid beating of his heart against her breast. It wasn't just her.

"It's... a lot. I feel..." Claire took a deep steadying breath. "I feel like I'll be... different."

Warren's lips covered hers, soothing. Hot. "I know," he said, pulling back slightly. "There's no going back after."

"Yeah." She smiled tremulously.

"We can stop," he offered, albeit tightly.

Fingers splayed over his broad chest, Claire stroked his rich tawny skin thoughtfully. Groundingly. "I can't be afraid forever, War," she reasoned softly, willing herself to relax, to enjoy the feel of him against her. She closed her eyes, letting everything else disappear as Warren's lips found her pulse, her weak spot, making her liquefy instantly in his arms.

"Are you sure?" he asked, his breath stirring her hair deliciously.

She felt him poised at her entrance, nudging delicately, and she took another deep, bracing breath. "Yeah."

"I'm right here." And then he was, holding her close as a cry was wrenched out of her, weathering the pain with her until it passed. "I'm right here." And then he was.
