I loved last nights episode but I was thinking of how Reid might have been able to relate to Garcia somewhat and this little one shot entered my head, as much as I adored the Morgan and and Garcia scene :)
Reid knocked on the door as he came in. He saw tears in Garcia's eyes.
"Is everything okay?"
Garcia sniffed.
"People are going to die because of me."
Reid shook his head.
"No, no it's not because of you."
"I'm just so overwhelmed, I don't know how JJ did it."
"I don't know how either," he admitted. She looked at him.
"I miss her."
Reid nodded.
"I miss her too...but she can't be replaced and I think that's what you're trying to do."
"NO! It's not! I'm just trying to help but I feel so out of place...out of..."
"Your league?"
Garcia nodded.
"How did you know?"
Reid sighed.
"I was 21 when I joined the BAU, youngest person ever to join. I felt...very much out of my league. Everyone treated me like a kid, because well I guess I was one. I had a hard time trying to juggle my job, get my profile in time before a next victim showed up. It was exhausting, and very overwhelming. Everyone expected so much of me because of my background. I felt like I wasn't good enough and wanted to change my image. Look older, more professional."
"What did you do?" Garcia asked with sincere interest.
Reid smiled.
"I met you."
Garcia flushed and looked down.
"And if I remember your advice it was...to be yourself no matter what and that everyone feels overwhelmed and some point in their life. And that does not make you weak."
Garcia smiled at him as he smiled back.
"We miss you," he added as he handed her her glasses. "The real you."
He sighed as she took out her cotact linses and replaced them with her glasses.
"Do you need any help?"
She smiled at him.
"I think you just did Dr. Reid."
She squeezed his arm as he stood up.
"Whoever is worth enough to marry you is going to be an extremly lucky woman."
Reid flushed.
"Thank you," she added.
He nodded and hugged her hand.
"Any time."
