She kept her eyes screwed shut, bracing herself for the now-familiar sting on metal on skin, but it never came.

Stay away from her!

He chuckled lightly, his frozen hand gripping the knife with white knuckles. Ah, ah, ah, little Hikari. Don't interrupt my fun...

No! That's it! I am sick and tired of you taking everything away from me and destroying my world and forcing me to sit back and watch and expecting me to deal with and keep bowing down to you! In his rage, Ryou managed to take back control of his arms. He threw the knife into the ground, where it landed with a small thuklang.

Serenity's eyes flew open and she gasped lightly as she realised what was happening. She made a weak effort to escape his grasp, and Ryou, still keeping his yami at bay, let her go. Instead of running, however, she simply fell to the ground out of fatigue and hit her head on a rock. She groaned and raised her eyes slightly, just enough to see a blurry hand reaching for her neck and a blinding flash of golden light.
