The warm sun of a new morning made its way into the room through a crack in the makeshift curtains. It bathed the two (still a tangle of limbs) in a yellowish light. Hakkai was the first to open his eyes. A soft smile played about his lips, and he absentmindedly ran his fingers through the other's hair. Gojyo stirred in his sleep, reaching over to pull him closer.
Mornings like this were perfect, just the two of them, bodies still warm from the previous night. The soft whisperings between kisses fading out into sleep were peacefully blended with waking up the following day to find that it hadn't been a dream.
Their clothes were still lying in a neat pile at the end of the mattress, having been discarded without little thought in the heat of a moment. The brunette waited a few moments, still caught in Gojyo's arms, before gently pulling away. He swung his legs over the side of the bed. The cold, cement floor of their small house sent shivers racing down his spine, and he half considered crawling back under the sheets to sleep the day away.
Of course, Hakkai wasn't like that. He had always been the motivated one, finding it difficult to be lazy when there was so much work to be done. After all, there were still dishes in the sink that needed to be washed, and the ceiling had developed a leak that needed fixing. He couldn't stay in bed all day, no matter how rich the temptation.
Slowly, silently he stood; grabbing a pair of pants from a piled deemed "clean" by Gojyo's standards. They likely weren't his, but then again…he smiled, looking over to the man still asleep a few feet away. He didn't suppose it mattered who they belonged to.
"What're you doing up so early?" There was a soft mumbling as Gojyo sat up, rubbing his eyes in the process. "It's like seven in the morning."
"Good morning, Gojyo." Hakkai said. "I was just going to fix some breakfast." The redhead wrinkled his eyebrows at the other man, staring him down with a half-lidded gaze. They lingered a moment in silence, Hakkai's hand rested on the doorknob while Gojyo wavered between wake and slumber.
"Come back to bed…" he finally mumbled, falling to the sheets with a soft thud.
"But there are things that need to be done." The green eyed man scolded, subconsciously walking to the edge of the mattress.
"Do 'em later."
"Gojyo…" he sat on the bed, barely noticing as the other man reached over to close the curtains.
"Sleep now, work later."
"But Gojyo, don't you think that-," Hakkai was cut off by a pair of warm lips covering his own. His eyes fell closed, and for a moment he was powerless. He didn't feel his Gojyo pull the sheets over the both of them, nor did he notice a calloused hand on his bare back.
"Sleep now, work later." he repeated with a smirk. There was little Hakkai could do to argue so he gave in, finding a place curled next to him. Two strong arms wrapped around his waist, and a pair of soft lips kissed his cheek.
"'Night, Hakkai." The redhead whispered into his ear. Hakkai rolled his eyes, but smiled.
"You too, Gojyo." He yawned.
Mornings like this really were perfect.
