"Raven, you must go now. You must leave before he can get to you." Her voice was almost inaudible over the noise of chaos and panic.
"Arella, I don't want to leave. Not now. I need to stay and help you."
"No, child," Arella's voice was soft and soothing to Raven, "You must protect yourself from him. The only way to do so is to leave."
"Mother, I-"
"Hush, Raven." Arella grabbed her daughter and held her in the longest hug Raven had ever had. "I love you." Suddenly, Arella pushed Raven through the portal. Raven grabbed for her mother as she went through, but all she could reach was the suitcase she had packed.
"No!" Raven yelled as she shot up from her bed. She looked around. She was safe inside her room. She looked over at her clock. 1:30. Raven sat there with her eyes closed for about five minutes when she felt it. Another presence in the room. She looked at the foot of her bed. Green eyes stared back at her.
"Um, hi, Raven. I, uh, just wanted to give this to you," he held up her cloak, "You left it on the couch downstairs. I thought you might want it."
"Thanks, Beast Boy," she took the cloak from him and put it on, "How long have you been there?"
"About thirty minutes, I think." Beast Boy was ready to be yelled at for even being inside Raven's room. He looked at her. Her eyes were watering. "Is she crying?" he thought. "Raven?" He asked.
"What?"
"Are you okay? I heard you talking in your sleep. It sounded like you were having a nightmare." Raven heard the concern in Beast Boy's voice.
"I'm fine, Beast Boy. I was just…" Raven struggled to find the right words. Finally, she said, "Dreaming about my mother."
"Oh. Well, since you're okay, I think I'll leave now." He turned towards the door.
"Wait." Raven said. Beast Boy turned around to face her. "I just wondered if you could stay a little while longer." She looked at him, hoping he would stay.
"Sure." Beast Boy answered as he jumped onto the bed next to her. Raven and Beast Boy lay there in silence. Beast Boy suddenly grabbed her and held her close to him. He was afraid that Raven would pull away. Instead, she held his arm close. They laid like that for what seemed like hours. Beast Boy looked over her shoulder at her face. She had fallen asleep and was still holding onto him. He lay back down. He suddenly realized how tired he was. He closed his eyes. His ears twitched when he heard the noise. It was Raven's voice.
"I love you, Beast Boy." She said. He knew she was still asleep, but he answered her without thinking. "I love you too, Raven." Then he too fell asleep.
