The Brady Bunch

Tragedy Falls

The sky was dark over the remains of the Brady family home. Family photos lay on the floor, their frames shattered, and the pictures bent or burnt. The floor was covered in ashes, and the air carried embers and the smell of death and smoke. Marcia, Jan, Greg, and Bobby lay among the wreckage, their clothes and hair singed, and their faces coated with dirt.

Jan pulled herself up, and looked around, devastated. "Marcia," she tried to call, but her throat was dry and burning, and only hoarse croaks came out. "Cindy...Greg...Peter...Bobby."

Greg jerked his head slightly, and groaned. Marcia didn't move.

"Jan," Bobby whispered. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," Jan answered. "Where's Mom and Dad?"

"I don't know," Bobby replied.

The girl fell on her back, her body surging with pain, and her mind blazing with confusion and fear. What had happened? What had destroyed everything she held dear?

The smoke and embers flew into the air.
