The Pier

Disclaimer: Please. Do you really think I own PJO? And if I did, why would I be here?

Annabeth POV

Percy and I were walking down a pier, hand in hand, when a grotesque sign appeared:

In loving memory of the lives lost on this pier.

And in glowing gratitude to those who tried to save them.

It then went on to list, in detail, the deaths of two boys who died on this pier. Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, a sign said WARNING: NOT DESIGNED FOR PUBLIC USE.

"Okay, I do not want to go on this anymore!" I said, grinding my feet into the ground while Percy yanked me onward.

"Come on!" He taunted. "It'll be fun! Besides, I thought you wanted to go out to the edge and see the sunset!"

"That's before I knew how deadly it was!"

But he didn't list to my desperate pleas. He forced me to walk all the way out to the edge. (Which was a very long way I might add.)

Percy POV

So Annabeth got this crazy idea that we were going to go out on this pier thing and watch a sunset. It sounded like fun, so I decided to go.

But when we got there, there were all these signs declaring how unsafe the whole thing was. Annabeth freaked out and demanded to go back. I craned my neck to the side and looked down the length of the pier. There were about 500 people on it, so I decided it was safe enough.

Annabeth really did not want to go, but I yanked her on anyhow.

Don't tell anyone this, but I think she's really cute when she's scared.

Annabeth POV

When we finally stopped, I slit my fingers open and peeked one eye through the crack in my hand. I had to admit, it really was a beautiful sight.

Since it was only 8:00, we had about an hour to kill before the sun set. Percy started stripping off his clothes (which I didn't object to) but when I realized why he did it, I became very upset.

"Percy, you can't do that!" I yelled.

Of course he ignored me anyhow, and with a mischievous glint in his eyes said: "Sure I can!"

He reached down and pulled off his socks and shoes.

"But two kids were killed doing this!" I hissed through gritted teeth.

"Well they weren't sons of Poseidon, now were they?" he countered, cocking his head.

He started pulling various items out of his pockets; consisting of car keys, a cell phone, and a wallet. Why I held onto them, I have no idea. I should've just chucked them in the water.

Once he had stripped down to just his shorts and underwear, he jumped in the water; to my dismay.

"Ugh!" I groaned. "You are so…so…" I struggled, trying to find the right words to describe him "such a Seaweed Brain!" I finally shouted, leaning over the edge of the pier, seeing frustratingly nothing besides my own reflection.

"What was that?" inquired Percy, his head (just now) popping out of the water.

I growled disgustedly at him, throwing his things on the ground and plopping down on the cement walkway.

Percy POV

After Annabeth finished yelling at me, I swam around underwater to the other side of the pier. When no one was looking, I climbed up a ladder, completely dry.

Annabeth, who hadn't seen me in the last five minutes, started pacing up and down the edge of the pier; still staring at the spot she had last seen me.

"Boo!" I yelled at her.

She gave a startled scream and I pushed her into the water; shoes and all.

She cried an indignant "Percy!" the second she surfaced.

I was laughing so hard, tears were coming out of my eyes.

Since I was such a good sport, I jumped in after her.

She splashed me with water and I splashed her back. I pulled her underwater, formed an air bubble, and she kissed me.

I swear, we kiss underwater more than we do on land.
