A/N: Should really stop writing these fanfics, need to write my novel/dissertation-thingy. Have written two today, the other one is longer and will most likely be posted tomorrow. Ideas for two more are in my head at the moment, oh and 'The Worst' will have a second part and will do that soonish.

Snow. It was white, soft, fresh and melted easily. Fai was like snow, Kurogane thought, light and easily moved by the wind. Though it was a metaphorical wind, he was too easily manipulated, no matter how clever the blonde may be he could be used by others. First he was used as a scapegoat by Valeria, then was manipulated by Wong-Reed in so many ways, after all that Kurogane was sure Ashura had done a lot to alter Fai but the only thing he knew for sure was that he was made into someone that should have been able to kill the king (memory alteration was not something Kurogane could ever be comfortable with, even if it was so one of Fai's curses could be lifted).

This all left Kurogane to think of Fai as a flake of snow falling and tumbling around in the wind. As he stared at Fai from across the room, watching him look outside at the snowstorm, he felt a pang of pain go through his body. After the mage having such a hard life he wasn't sure how much longer he could go on, how long until his snowflake melted. At the moment it had settled on the ground, staying in one place, just waiting until the sun came up and turned it into water which would eventually evaporate away. Kurogane was certain that if one more hardship was thrown at Fai that he wouldn't be able to go on. He had been so close to dying twice, embracing it with open arms. Living his life had nearly killed him.

Fragile. Fai was very fragile, precious. Kurogane was nearly afraid to touch the blonde sometimes, lest he break and crumble into a thousand pieces in his grasp. Yet if he did not take him in his arms he may float away when the next gust of wind came, something which Kurogane would not be able to stand.

He stepped forward and embraced the mage from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around the man's chest.

"Don't melt," Kurogane whispered into the blondes' ear.

Fai didn't even ask what he was talking about; instead he raised his hands and held onto the arms around him. Giving Kurogane the comfort he obviously needed. Not letting the wind take him away.
