Author's Note: Just a little note on the transformation Shinji (and, by extent, all the other Vizard) went through on first being Hollowified in the Turn Back the Pendulum arc.

There's a new voice. That's not to say it's simply the newest voice of many; it is the first—and Shinji prays, the last—foreign voice to enter his mind, unannounced, unwanted.

And this voice will be heard.

It worms its way in like a virus, a disease. It infects everything it touches, twists and turns the contours of Shinji's mind until it becomes a labyrinth, a maze, and Shinji is reduced to hitting walls every time he turns and tries to find his way out.

Nothing is the same anymore. Memory is a dark jumble of faces and images that are meaningless and nothings since Shinji can't remember.

He can't remember. Can't remember anything.

The only reality he knows is darkness, swimming through it like a sea of smoke, getting nowhere. That and the voice.

Dark.

Sadistic.

Tormentor, torturer, who is twisting Shinji into something that fits its own image, something alien to himself.

And the voice takes great, malicious glee in telling Shinji that he'll never be alone again.
