He had insisted they stay indoors. Watch wrestling, heck, watch Rainbow munchies commercials. Did it matter? Not really. She managed to drag the damned Australian outdoors with a swift peck on the lips, leading him to a place unknown as he managed to zip up his jacket and keep pace with the overly energetic Sheila. Kuki. The name of the pain in his neck that he hated to love. Though they were now teens and surprisingly the same height, they still fought alongside of former KND members like themselves against adult ruin. She still got her way. It wasn't his fault she was graceful in every way and just a simple touch of her hand made him melt like snowflakes on a tongue. Just once he wanted his way, it was all he could think about as trudged through the snow and ice to meet up with her at a old tree in the park they used to play in when they were younger.
"Oi! Kuki, its freezing! Can we go home now?" He half whined and half ordered. Well, It was supposed to be a order. But like it was mentioned before, he never got his way and the pout that formed on her lips made him instantly give up."C'mon Wally!" She tilted her head slightly to the side and gave him one of her sunshine smiles that replaced the cold in his cheeks with heat. The sudden change in temperature made him shiver with annoyance that this was his fate for falling in love. Suddenly she started to run. Laughter escaped from her mouth that sounded like a chorus of wind chimes and angels singing in harmony. It was her laugh that managed to get him in the holiday spirit a few days ago when it was time to open presents with the rest of their team mates ,It was her voice that forced him to remember the new year was coming and school would start. It was his thought that made him inwardly groan and remind him that next year he would be shipped off to military school while his sweet pain would stay here. It too, reminded him. He hadn't told her.
A pain in his chest formed as he sat next to her and she laid her head on his shoulder and laced her fingers with his. The view placed in front of them was the view of the tree house that held the memories of the young lovers. Their first tea party together. Their first fight over the T.V remote. The first time she made him laugh. The first time she showed him her thousand watt smile. He learned that even though she was ditzy and maybe a bit crazy, she was strong in every way possible and nothing could change that. But now. Here. He was terrified. The boy who fought bullies triple his size, the boy who risked all and told his love that he loved her the day of their decommissioning, only to find out they made it to the TND. In that split second they shared their first kiss and knowingly shared the same feeling of warmth in each other's hearts.
"Wally?" she broke the barrier of silence. He smiled at her. A small tear in his eye. She blushed, seeing another side of her boyfriend of a few years, her best friend of many. "Don't ever leave me." She stated, embracing him in a warm hug. He silently prayed it wasn't a rainbow monkey goodbye hug that she gave so very often when they were younger. Because now, he was wishing that she would once again get her away like she did so many times before.
Critisism is strongly appreciated (:
