Reflection

Link makes it a point to never see himself in a reflection. (The Water Temple was total hell.)

He's afraid what he'll see if he truly looks.

Some days he's afraid he'll look and see a child, frightened and alone, stuck in a man's body.

Some day's he's afraid he'll look and see a man no better than Ganondorf, devoured by his own power.

Some day's he's afraid he'll look and see only two crimson orbs staring back.

Some day's he's afraid he'll look and see only the faces of those whose lives he's taken.

But right now…

Right now he had to look. He had to face himself, to see what the Skull Kid had done to him because that was the only way he could go on.

Link looked down at the stagnant pond, at his reflection.

And screamed.
