Crown

He is used to lying. He lies all the time. He has lied since before he can even remember, his earliest memory being a simple answer.

"Ne, Ayato, are you okay?"

He wasn't. He definitely wasn't. He was alone and sad and tired, definitely not the definition of okay. But did his brother need to know that?

"Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Just work hard on your pottery, okay?"

His lie worked that day.

And every day after that, he continued to lie. He continued to lie right up until he had to lie better. He had to lie to become someone else.

He smiles as he stares at his battlefield. Speak the same lie enough and it becomes the truth.

Or so the saying goes. He still feels cheated.

The SSS girl's skin is cold in his grasp, colder than the falling rain. Her blood is watered down, but still a brilliant red.

The wounds should kill a person under normal circumstances, but he isn't stupid enough to think that he can truly kill a person in this world. No, he can't. To murder someone is impossible here, but outside, he figures he could probably do such a thing.

He is a liar. He could kill her in that miserable world and pass the blame onto someone else. Lying is his greatest skill.

The orange-haired punk is barking, yipping like a little dog, and he doesn't feel like listening to the swill of some obstinate child.

He can't understand why that boy tries. The boy is too honest, too doe-eyed to even think about understanding a liar.

He is sick of looking at all of them. They don't know, none of them know, but he still feels like he is being judged.

This school is his and he wants to keep it. He will continue to charm his way through his afterlife as the acting Student President until he can achieve Godhood. These souls won't challenge their God.

No, with the SSS squad on the ground, smeared in rainwater and their own fluids, unable to save themselves, he has done it. He has become the master of Judgment.

"I am God!"

The boy is trying to understand, he will give him points for effort, but it is not enough.

Their guitarist is gone, vanished like she never existed in the first place, and he knows why. She lived her dream in her afterlife, a farce at best, but it had been enough to shoo her away.

He needs to get rid of those who oppose his Godhood. The SSS squad is in his way, but in a few moments, with simple eye contact and a few sweetly spoken words (lies), they will be but a memory.

His kingdom of lies will be indestructible.

And that is the only truth he will ever know.

A/N: Takes place during episode 6, before Otonashi decided to be the hero. Enjoy my little insight into what is Ayato Naoi, over and out!
