Okay...I know I haven't really posted much in a few weeks, but there is a VERY good explanation...namely BAND CAMP! Y'see, for the past two weeks I've had marching band camp and that's kinda taken over my life...but I now have a little free time (aka, no band today X3) so I typed this random crap...
...please review~
He slept at the church last night, crying himself to sleep. He watched as she got out of the car, hair messy, clothes disheveled. He climbed into her window as she modeled the wedding dress, begging her not to go. His Elizaveta is being taken away, and there's nothing he can do.
She slept peacefully last night, dreaming of tomorrow. She hurried to get ready for the wedding, arriving much too early but not caring in the least. She stood in front of the mirror, twisting this way and that, admiring the white dress. Suddenly Gilbert was behind her, pleading. But she wouldn't listen.
The music plays and he watches the procession move down the aisle ahead of her. Each second prolongs his torture. He waits beside her, preparing to give her away…to lose her. He stares at her sadly, unwilling to give her up, to give up on his childhood love.
The procession moves, and her heart accelerates, her mouth rapidly drying. She knows that she isn't the most perfect bride, but she doesn't care. Each minute seems like a million years. Why do weddings take so long? She looks to her best friend, the one who's always been there for her, she's so nervous. Why doesn't he look happy?
She's too young to just give herself away. He's known her all his life, but she's being married to someone else, why? Because she believed Roderich when he said he loved her. He, himself tried one last time to stop her, begging her to wait. She just laughed and left him standing there, staring towards the altar, filled with regret.
She was married to the other man. She only looked back at Gilbert once to say goodbye. She never realized her new husband didn't love her enough. She never realized he was crying in the wedding pictures. She never knew that the ring that bound her to Roderich had been meant as an engagement ring from someone else. There were so many things she didn't know, caught up in the three little words that meant so little when Roderich said them.
His greatest regret was not running after her. His second regret was getting rid of the ring he bought. The worst thing he had ever done was pretend he didn't care. If he had only found her five minutes earlier things might have been different. Elizaveta might have married him instead of Roderich. Instead he's left behind, watching her from afar, trying to mend a broken heart and stop a million regrets. Maybe in time he can pick up the pieces. Maybe soon he will try to forget. But for now he'll watch her and let his poor heart break again…
Now it's her turn to sit up at night and think of him. She wonders why her heart feels so empty. And sometimes, late at night she wonders what could have been. If only she hadn't said goodbye…
