This is my response to "Professor Flitwick's Prompt of the Day" for the 23rd of August. It's from Hogwarts Online, where I am a Ravenclaw. Credit to mew-tsubaki for the pairing.

Victoire Weasley had always been told that she was beautiful, but she had never believed it.

Her own identity had revolved around it for as long as she could remember. Every day before work, Bill greeted his oldest child in the same way: good morning, beautiful. Dominique was the apple of his eye, and Louis was his brave boy.

When she looked into a mirror or caught sight of herself in water, she saw an imitation of her mother, the graceful, gorgeous Fleur Weasley. It was not her own beauty that Victoire saw, but rather the luck of good genetics.

"How about we go out sometime?" Teddy ran a hand through his turquoise hair, his easy smile possessing the arrogance of youth.

"Why?" Although she was a head shorter than Teddy, somehow she made him feel like he was looking up at her. His cockiness was replaced by sheepish discomfort.

"Because you're beautiful."

Victoire shook her head.

For years she had been fond of Teddy. During her crush, Victoire had embraced his changeable appearance and adored the boy with the roguish smile and the ability to make her laugh. Deep down, she had known that he wasn't capable of doing the same for her. He had no idea what was there was to her, other than long blonde hair and bright blue eyes.

She really did hope that he felt more for Lily; both of them deserved to be happy.

As for Victoire herself, she allowed herself to enjoy being worshipped by boys and did her best to ignore the nugget of despair that was lodged inside her, growing bigger with every word of extravagant praise.

She had drifted through men's dreams until he had found her and made her feel. It was as scandalous as it was unlikely, Victoire and Neville Longbottom. But it worked. He loved her for the unique things that made her Victoire. And when he did tell her that she was beautiful, Victoire believed him.
