A/N: I've been suffering from a terrible writer's block lately and one night, I had a dream about the 07-ghost boys (oh yeaaaah ^^) and then that popped into my head. It's placed in the first episode, the night after the exam when Mikage jumps into Teito's bed. I guess it's a very popular topic to write about, but I decided I'd give it a try as it's my very first 07-ghost fic :) Concrit is much welcome!
"Well, let's get to bed", Mikage chuckled, pulling himself onto Teito's bed. "Tomorrow we finally get to graduate! We'll finally be soldiers", he sighed, lying down before the bed's owner could stop him.
"Hey! Don't tell me you're sleeping up there", Teito reminded him, though not convincingly enough. Mikage didn't move.
"Lighten up, it's our last night together", he heard a muffled voice from under his blanket. That statement made his throat go dry.
"Cut the crap!", he exclaimed, not wanting to show his unease.
It wasn't that they hadn't slept together. On cold nights they would sometimes cuddle up against each other to keep themselves warm, or if Teito had that dream dream Mikage would let him calm down in his arms… but now it seemed somehow different.
Teito, seeing he could do nothing more about his friend in his bed, lay down beside him.
It might have been the feeling of something new beginning that caused what happened then. Maybe it was the need to lift the tension the examination brought about. Or the will to finish what has been said the night before, when Teito admitted that he considers Mikage his family.
Teito half-consciously, as if it was the only thing to do, wrapped his arm around Mikage's back, resting the hand on his chest. He was surprised when he felt another warm hand wrap around his own.
Mikage turned so that he was facing him, still holding his hand.
"I like you, Teito", he said, adding another hand.
Teito averted his gaze. He liked Mikage too, just the whole situation was so awkward that he couldn't utter a single word.
But Mikage had his usual, roguish smile on his face, the one that made his cross-like scar even more visible. Teito knew that he could never see this smile again.
"I like you too", he mumbled, a violent blush creeping up his face.
Mikage leaned in and for a second their lips touched lightly. It wasn't even a proper kiss, but it sent a shiver down Teito's spine nonetheless. They parted for a second and Teito noticed that Mikage's face was flushed too.
Their next kiss wasn't as chaste as the first one.
