AN: I initially wrote this in third person after completely forgetting that I'd written this story in 1st person POV. Also, this is unbeta'd, so if you see any grammatical errors or issues with the flow of this chapter, I take full responsibility. All reviews are welcome. Let me know what you think.

I snarled angrily as I raced through the clearing, tearing through every, single, fucking leech that had the misfortune of getting in my way. I was beyond pissed.

The plan had been completely shot to shit and it was all that fucking parasite's fault! Even with one arm that sparkly douche-bag was still a formidable opponent. My ribs still ached from that kick that he had gotten end at the tail end of our fight. It was no matter. I intend to finish that fucker as soon as this is all over.

The surprise attack from the redhead's cronies isn't doing much to aid in the healing of said injury either. Oh, yeah, it's so on as soon as I'm done with the bitch and her little league of baby bloodsuckers.

Sam-Focus, Paul! You have two on your left, take 'em out!

With pleasure. I roared as I tore through the inexperienced baby vamps.

This was all too easy. Bella's fear had set the wolf off and it was fueling his murderous nature. They all had to die. Every. Single. One. Nothing and no one would ever touch her again, not if I have anything to do with it. It'll be a cold day in hell before that redhead got her hands on my Bella.

I had to put my head all the way into the game. The wolf took over as I maneuvered my way through the vamps, taking out as many as I could along the way. We had to make it out of this alive.

We made quick work of the initial wave. We ripped through those fuckers, but it didn't take long for the few that were left to regroup.

Sam - Fan Out. Stay focused. They're main drive right now is to stay alive and we're standing between them and survival. No casualties damn it!

I could feel the power of the Alpha Timbre surge through the pack. We were all on high alert. The leeches' numbers were dwindling and they didn't stand a chance. It was only a matter of time before the so called newborn army laid broken and scattered across the battlefield.

Kindling for the next bonfire. I thought. The pack yipped in agreement.

I bared my teeth at the baby vamps. A grin from the grim reaper. I kept my eyes trained on the newborns, checking for even the tiniest movements. My wolf was ready to pounce and I couldn't wait for this shit to be over with.

"Wait until they come at us." The War Vet warned.

My wolf was growing restless. Shuffling back and forth on its paws, it was itching for another kill. I waited impatiently for the order.

Sam.

Sam- I know Paul. Just hold on.

It felt like forever. I could feel the tension coiling in my muscles, aching for the need to spring.

I listened carefully to the other side of the battle field. They were scared. The whole fucking lot of them. Doubt rolled off of those fuckers in waves and I shuddered at the taste of their fear on my tongue.

"What are we waiting for?!" One shouted "It's us or THEM!"

Oh yeah. Come and get it. I groaned hungrily. The primal need to destroy the vamps swept through me.

After a moment of uncertainty, the remaining vamps charged, with only a few breaking ranks to save what was left of their sparkly asses.

We ripped through the charging vamps easily; the grating metal sound echoing through the trees as they made their way through.

Sam-Paul, you, Embry, and Leah take out the deserters.

Gladly.

I shot out after the fleeing vamps, their sickly-sweet stench combined with the fear of fleeing prey had me reeling. The only time I'd felt such a euphoric high was when I was driving balls deep inside of my little imprint. It was a heady feeling knowing that I was wiping out the threat to my girl and ridding the world of this fucking menace all at the same time. It made destroying these fuckers all the sweeter.

We swept through them. Dwindling them all the way down to the last leech standing. I ran as fast as I could, closing the distance between me and the last vamp. I watched as it darted between the trees. A sick smile crept across its face. The bastard actually thought he was gaining the upper hand. I huffed, my tongue lulling to side as my jaws spread wide. The closest I could come to laughing in wolf form. The leech actually thought that he was going to get away. I snarled loudly as I pounced, dragging my claws down it's spine.

The vamp put up a decent fight before I sank my teeth into it, ripping off its legs and arms. The feeling that it was defenseless beneath me had me feeling a giddiness that I hadn't known since I was a fucking kid. I wanted to savor this moment.

I shifted back and stood in the leeches face, in all my naked glory. I felt the predatory grin stretch across my face.

"But how…how did you catch me?" He simpered.

I growled. "Did you really think that you could get away?"

The newborn was frozen with fear. I chuckled at its reaction.

"Look likes you picked the wrong girl to fuck with, huh leechy?"

"It wasn't my fault…we didn't want to come…they made us…please!" The vampire cried.

I crouched in front of the worthless piece of shit and sneered. "Fuck. You."

I reveled in the final screech as I twisted off his head with my bare hands. I stood and stared down at the remains of the vamp.

"Good fucking riddance." I spat.

I stooped and gathered the remaining pieces of the vamp, tossing them in a pile. I took my lucky Zippo from the cut offs strapped to my leg and lit the vamp on fire. I watched briefly as the purple plume of smoke climbed it's way towards the sky. Satisfied with my work, I ran toward the treeline. I phased on the fly and landed on all fours as I barreled back toward the clearing.

I took in a deep, steadying breath as I emerged through the treeline. I glanced over the makeshift battleground and surveying the damage that had been done. I growled in irritation. Those fucking leeches were more trouble than they were worth. Still, the feeling of victory was awesome. We'd made it through what could have been a devastating battle completely unscathed. That, and the threat to Bella had finally been destroyed.

It was an incredible. But, something still didn't feel right. Even through the haze of victory, something still wasn't sitting right with me. I wracked my brain, trying to find the issue as the niggling feeling of unease plagued my mind. It felt like I'd missed something. I cocked my head to the side, listening to the excited voices of my pack as they celebrated. Everyone seemed to be accounted for. I relaxed for a moment, and then it hit me. I tugged on the link that Bella and I shared. I felt around for her, for that feeling of warmth that came through our marking, but came up empty.

Jake? I called out to the wolf that was supposed to be protecting my mate. No response. Where was he?

Jake? Still nothing.

Black! Where the fuck are you? Anger and confusion coursed through my veins as the reality of what this meant came crashing down on me.

Jake is missing. And that means... Bella...

The thought echoed eerily through the pack mind as one by one, the weight of what I was feeling set in. A fucked up domino effect that filled us all with an overwhelming sense of dread. I took off like a shot through the battle field.

Where the fuck's the redhead? I screamed.

Does anyone have eyes on the redheaded leech? I searched frantically, pawing through charred remains, and praying to whatever gods were listening that I would catch a glimpse of that damned flaming red hair. I'd spotted her in the fray, but the leech that attacked me left me sidetracked and I lost her. Fuck! I was a moron. I glanced briefly at the Cullens who seemed confused at the sudden commotion. Of course they were confused, the fucking mind reader was now nowhere to be found. If he had anything to do with this, I would rip him apart. Slowly. And make him fucking watch as I burned him piece by piece.

There was still no sign of either of them, and I had circled back twice. What the fuck is going on?! The fear had quickly escalated to full blown panic. I turned briefly to the leeches that had survived the battle -a small group of deserters that the Cullens wanted to convert. A waste of fucking time in my opinion. They had to know something. They were in on the plan from the beginning.

I turned menacingly toward them. As soon as I set my sights on them, had a white hot heat surged through me. I buckled and let out an ear piercing howl. I felt my massive body spasm as the pain tore through my senses. I felt the shimmering coolness of the shift come over me before my human body laid prone on the ground. I could barely register the concerned voices of my pack-mates around me as I thrashed violently, my body arching upward as a scream ripped it's way from my lungs.

Something had gone terribly, terribly wrong. "Bella..."

Her face was the last thing I saw, before everything went black.
