I wrote this because the end of the book depressed me hugely.

For Katniss, the press time was over way too fast. She was able to watch Peeta's smiling face and believe that things were the way they had just been, before Peeta had so badly misinterpreted her words. As they walked off stage and were out of the sight of the camera, Peeta yanked his arm away and started to stalk off. Katniss couldn't take it.

"Peeta! Wait!"He kept walking."Peeta, please, I need to talk to you."She felt tears fill her eyes as he ignored her."Please?"Mid-word, her voice cracked. Hearing it, Peeta stopped. He heaved a sigh and turned back towards her. He looked slightly shocked at the tears welling at the sides of her eyes, but that disappeared under a cold mask that seemed to form over his face.

"What?" That face, that face that used to be so full of love, was now cold and hard. She swallowed trying to find words. Finally, she just started to talk.

"I wasn't lying when I said that not all of it was made up. You didn't see the strings attached to that first pot of stew. Remember? It was after we kissed the first time. It was a message from Haymitch: keep the romance thing up, and we are home free. At first, that was why I did it. But then," She swallowed, trying to keep her throat from closing up; she needed to get Peeta to understand. "But then it started being less and less for the audiences benefit and more and more for mine."She kept going, barely even noticing the tear running down her cheek, only interested in Peeta's reaction, which seemed to be to freeze."When you misunderstood before, you have no idea how I felt. It was if I was dying. I never wanted the camera's to stop rolling, as long as I got to see my Peeta, the one I got to know in the Arena."Finally, she closed her eyes, closer to tears than she had ever been in her life. "I love you..."She broke down, silently sobbing as she expected to hear him walk away.

So it was understandable when she was enveloped in his warm embrace, she was just a tad confused. She looked up at him, confusion evident.

"Peeta?" He brushed a tear off her face.

"Huh. You must really like me. The Katniss I know doesn't cry for just anyone."He pretended to look shocked."Does this mean you...like me?"Katniss lightly whacked him in the chest.

"Shut up."She smiled up at him."Love you."

"Love you too."The hand that had been brushing away tears cupped the side of her face as he kissed her.

Oh, goody. I can reread the book for summer reading list and not feel depressed.

Reveiw,please,so I won't feel unloved.
