REPLACING THE RUSH

DISCLAIMER

Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. Flashpoint belongs to CBS and whoever else owns it. I only own the plot. This is just a one-shot for an idea I had and may expand on someday.

Being in the SRU was a rush. It wasn't the same as being a Ranger, but it came pretty close. Kimberly loved her job, but she hated the fact that she had had to use a different name: Julie Callaghan. But that's what happened when you were a famous Olympic gymnast and developed a stalker: you had to change your name and create a whole new life. She had thought things were okay when she and Jason had gone back to Angel Grove to help out with the shelter, but when she had gotten back to Florida, she had been dismayed and scared to realize that the guy had been in her apartment and had increased his stalking. After that, she and her boyfriend, Shawn Roberts, had changed their names and had moved away. However, their new life and all of the precautions that they had to take had proven to be too much for him and he had left her. Not that she could blame him. Things had been tough all over. After Shawn had left, Kimberly had done her best to cope, and then she had been found again, and she had to come up with a new name and vocation. The one thing that had really bothered her was that she had had to give up gymnastics. She had trained so hard and so long, and then she had to put it aside for the greater good. In her new life as Julie Callaghan, she had gone to college, taken some criminal justice classes and had discovered that she had loved it. Rising through the ranks, Kimberly had discovered that the feeling of power and the high rush from being involved in police work excited her, much like the rush of being the Pink Ranger had. However, she couldn't figure out where she belonged and that had shown up a bit in her work. Not that she shirked her responsibilities, but they had been able to tell that she wasn't happy, and had done all they could to accommodate her. Then, she had found the Strategic Response Unit and suddenly, it was like she was home. Helping different people, finding out what her team needed to know in order to make sure that they made the right decisions so that everyone would get out safely. It was the same rush she had gotten as the Pink Ranger. True she was no longer wearing the uniform, but she had always considered herself the Pink Ranger. And being in the SRU was almost as good because she was no longer restless. She was replacing the rush. And it felt good, even if she had to hide who she really was.
