Valentines day was usually easy for a certain blonde haired teen. The typical holiday with the typical expectations was so easy even a ten year old could do it if he wanted to.
Ever since Roxas was thirteen he knew exactly how to woo his dates on the most romantic day of the year, and it is and always will be foolproof.
Take his date to the movies to see whatever sappy flick was out for the occasion, then a nice stroll in the park where he would surprise his date with a candlelit dinner by the Twilight river, and then to shower the lucky person with the most exquisite chocolates, some flowers, and a nice piece of jewelry or perfume.
Yep, Roxas knew exactly how to make most of his dates swoon and feel like the most luckiest person in the world.
But now here is the same charismatic and confident Roxas looking warily at a set of cologne as his best friend Axel chatted away at his side. His poor troubled mind wasn't sure if his date would like any cologne as a gift but then again he wasn't sure what the boy honestly liked since he was so...weird?
No. Not weird. He was more like a wonder. Roxas's little wonder. That's what Sora is.
It was currently February 13 and Roxas was panicking, Although he's known to be an all around good guy and possibly the most charming boy here in Twilight Town, the poor blonde was in a fix.
He had no idea what to get his boyfriend of six months for Valentines Day.
He began to send a text to his boyfriend asking for any suggestions on a gift because honestly the poor boy didn't have a clue and he just wanted to put the biggest smile on the brunettes face.
Sora, probably the best thing that happened in the teens life, came to the island a year ago. He and his brother, Leon, moved over here due to some family related issues and took up residence just down the street from Roxas's own home.
One fateful wintery morning as Roxas was leaving his home to head to school, he heard the sounds of childish laughter coming from the new neighbors house. As he walked down the snow clad sidewalk he looked across the street to see two brunettes, one sitting on their porch with a steaming cup of coffee and the other making snow angels all around their front lawn. At closer inspection it seemed the brunette that was in the snow looked to be around his age and at an even closer inspection he was a cutie.
Chestnut brown hair, soft and supple looking lips, the cutest button nose, and to top it all off eyes that were the color of sapphire were shining with glee as the teen continued to frolic through the snowy lawn. Now Roxas was no stranger to dating the same sex as himself but this boy was something else...
'Definitely not someone you'd find around here that's for sure.'
He couldn't help but stare as he walked by the house, his eyes practically mesmerized by Sora's excited form rolling around in the snow. The blond was so captivated by the happy figure that he never realized the brunette had stopped his movements once he felt the obvious eyes following his every move. Sora sat up and looked in Roxas direction, a perfectly shaped eyebrow arched in curiosity. The look was soon replaced by a playful grin as he waved frantically at his new neighbor in glee. "Hiya there!" Roxas can feel the blush rising on his cheeks and he hoped the brunette thought it was due the cold air surrounding them. He raised a timid hand and gave it a slight wave, trying to not look as embarrassed as he felt.
Much to Roxas horror the brunette boy got up from his snow angel mold and made his way over to where he was. The blond hurriedly fixed his scarf over his face to try and conceal his still red cheeks as the mysterious boy came over and gave him another one of his dazzling smiles that made the blond melt inside. "My names Sora, I just moved in this week." The brunette took off his glove and extend his hand to Roxas, waiting for the boy to take it. the blond, realising he was still staring at Sora wistfully, snapped himself out of his stupor and quickly removed his own glove and taking Sora's hand in his own. Although the boy was just rolling around in this snow seconds ago he was surprisingly warm and Roxas welcomed the contrast greatly. "My names Roxas. I live down the street from you."
He relished in the warmth coming from the hand for a few more seconds before letting it go, trying not to show his disappointment. the silence that followed the greeting was nerve raking and for them first time in them blinds life he had no idea how to break them tension. He scratched the back of his head nervously, hoping Sora didn't think he was a weirdo or something off their first meeting but surprisingly the brunette grabbed both of his hands and gave him a huge smile.
"Do you want to play in the snow with me? This is my first time experiencing it and my brothers being all grouchy about playing me."
"E-eh? Aren't you going to be late for school?" the brunette merely pouted at Roxas question and the blond felt himself melt even further. Honestly there were no limits to them boys cuteness. Roxas was knocked out of his musing by a gruff voice coming from behind the younger brunette.
"Sora don't convince other kids to play hookey with you. Its bad enough you're refusing to go to school and forcing me to watch you so please don't make this worse by having angry parents at my door complaining to me."
''Yes Squall...'' Sora drawled out, clearly annoyed that his brother was not being an active participant in his snow enjoyment. Leon gave the two a scrutinizing look, his stare straying longer on the blonde, and left with a drawled out sigh. The younger brunette turned back to Roxas and gave him an apologetic smile. He leaned in and beckoned the blonde to lean in as well. Roxas, not wanting to invade this beautiful strangers personal space, tried to keep there distance as wide as the personal bubble would allow but Sora was quick to grip Roxas by his scarf and drag him so close that there noses were practically touching. ''My brothers really standoff-ish when it comes to strangers but I swear he's super nice, so don't feel bad if he came off as a little mean.''
The blonde just nodded his head, too captivated by the close proximity between him and Sora. The smell of peppermint waffed in the blondes directions and he couldn't help but lean a little closer to get more of that scent.
''...Umm Roxas what are you doing?''
''Uhh y-you smell nice?'' The brunette looked suspicious as he continued staring into the blondes cerulean eyes before letting out a giant laugh as he knocked the blonde over in the snow. Roxas let out a startled yell as snow fell down his pants and Sora turned around and plopped down on his back next to him to start making more snow angels.
''Something tells me this is going to be the start of a very interesting friendship Roxas!''
And the blondes life has never been the same since that fateful day last year. The two were always seen together after that may it have been at school, in the library cramming for upcoming tests, in the park enjoying the frequent struggle matches, or at the top of the clock tower watching the trains go by while enjoying each others company. The level of infatuation the blonde had for Sora kept rising and rising at a fever pitch that not even a year went by before he was spilling his guts and shoving a bouquet of roses in the brunette's face. But Sora wasn't perturbed by the gesture, if anything he welcomed it and took the flowers in glee. The brunette stroked the petals while giving Roxas a cheeky grin. ''Since you look just about ready to die of impatience I shall accept your offer so long as there are plenty of chocolates involved.''
And Roxas was sure to bring not one but two bags of Hershey's kisses on their first date. That was one thing Roxas enjoyed about his boyfriend than the others he dated in the past. He was simple. Pleasantly simple. Just being in Roxas presence kept a smile on the brunettes face and the same could be said for the blonde.
Roxas was knocked out of his musings as his phone vibrated in his hand. He took one look at the screen and a serene expression was on his face just by that one sentence.
Anything will do Roxy you know I'm not picky! Oh! And bring lots of chocolates!
Beautifully simple is what his Sora is. And he wouldn't have him any other way.
