A/N-I know it's been a little while since I updated but I was really concentrating on this next chapter and this won't be an exciting chapter but it will give you an insight on Sophia and Susan.
Sophia was back at her garage apartment, she fell back against door then thought about something then she locked the door. She was just emotionally exhausted after the day at the zoo, finding out the information she did and at the very last minute; something inside her just said not to tell Susan...she didn't know why but after the children interrupted them, she just wouldn't tell her.
She walked in a slump to her avocado green couch and fell face down on it, she stayed that way for a minute then she turned her head and looked around her apartment. She scrunched her nose then sat up, she kept thinking about the papers she found, the papers that Susan's own Uncle wrote but she just didn't feel right in sharing the information. There was something that Stanley wrote, the last few lines that set her hair on end. She was going to have to do some research on this but she also knew that she couldn't keep this from Susan for long.
She shrugged off her snow white coat with a fur collar off then she stood up and went to her small kitchen, she went to the cabinet and pulled out a glass with a 1940's Mickey Mouse and she thought to herself, 'If I was home, I would be paying $ 7.00-10.00 for this ! Here, I only paid like ten cents !" She went over to the sink and poured some water in the glass then took a swallow.
It was like she told Susan, it was easy to escape...she almost wanted to cry. She was remembering that day when she walked all the way to the cemetery and found that "wall" in the trees. It was there! All the time..she just didn't know how far to walk to the left. She can't believe she wasn't caught that very night from what Stanley put in his notes or...was she?
That night when she was so tired from crying...exhausted from trying and the walking from town that she crawled/ walked to that little white house with the black shutters. But now that she thinks about it...when she called her aunt and uncle to come pick her up, it was almost a little too quick when her aunt said they would come and get her; almost like...could they have known? But how?
But for now, all that is burned in her mind is those last few sentences that Stanley wrote and that picture ! She looked around the apartment until she saw what she was looking for...a small little tablet, she opened it up to a white sheet of paper then she picked up a # 2 pencil and she drew a picture...a picture she never thought she would. After she finished she looked at it for a long time then she tore it off the tablet then went over to the stove, she heard the clicks as the flames came up then she put a corner of the picture in the flames and watched it slowly burn. She had drawn a swastika.
Susan stood at the window in her bedroom, she looked up at Sophia's garage apartment. Her eyes were burning with hatred but she was also curious...curious about what she know from reading her Uncle Stanley's letter.
Her bedroom phone rang, she looked back at the phone then took a quick glance back up at the garage apartment then she went over and picked up her pink phone. When she picked up the phone, she asked in a normal, dry tone. "Hello?"
She walked back over to the window with the long pink cord from the phone then she replied to whoever was on the phone, "No, I didn't get any information because of those brats I have to take care of." Her voice just gets nastier and nastier as she pronounces each word.
She can't seem to stop looking up at Sophia's apartment with hatred then she spits out to whoever is on the phone, "I will get it! I will! Don't worry! I'm not going to let some red headed hitchhiker keep us from finding out the biggest information this we need to know
She listened to the voice on the other end of the phone and her face just kept turning red to blood red then she finally explodes and she screamed in German language,"ICH WEIB!"
She turned around and walked over to her full length mirror on her closet door, let out an exaggerated sigh then she mumbled something then violently slammed down the phone then when she turned herself back to the full length mirror, looked at her image then she picked up the phone and threw it to the mirror and it busted it and shards of glass flew around the room then she said, "Verdammt !"
