AN: Ok this is for Tracia and Tonnie's Fanfic Challenge- Round 3. I was originally stumped, but once I started writing a brilliant idea came to me, so enjoy! This takes place after the episode "Damaged".

Dave checked his pocket once more to make sure it was in there before he knocked on Garcia's door. She opened it and he was surprised to see Garcia holding a cat. Not just any cat, but a small kitten that had its tail wrapped around Garcia's arm. She smiled and stepped aside so Dave could come in.

"I didn't know you had a cat" Dave said as Garcia shut the door. The cat refused to take his eye off of Dave, watching for the older man to make a mistake.

"I just got her this weekend. Her name is Babe" she said scratching the cat behind the ears. The cat purred and tilted her head towards Garcia's chest and hand. Dave smiled at the gentle nature of the woman in front of him. "The poor thing was abused and she only has one eyeball" she explained, turning the cat's head just enough for Dave to see the one eye was indeed gone. He stepped forward and offered the cat his hand to smell. Once the cat accepted him, he ran his hand down the cats back.

"Hi there sweetie. You couldn't have found a better momma" he said to the cat. Garcia smiled and gestured to the couch.

"You said you had something for me. Would you like to sit? Can I get you something to drink?" Garcia said acting as a good hostess. Dave smiled and shook his head but sat down anyway. Garcia took the chair across from the couch and set the cat down. Babe trotted off to the bedroom, presumably to curl up and sleep while they talked.

"I was a jerk to you when you were just trying to help. I'm sorry" he said. Garcia was about to wave off his apologies because he had a right to be angry with her, but before she could open her mouth Dave was handing her a small jewelry box. She took it and opened it, gasping at what she saw.

"Dave, you shouldn't have" she said.

"No, you deserve it. I was going to get you flowers, but I figured this would last longer" he explained gesturing toward the box. Garcia admired the necklace in awe. It was a simple silver chain with a heart pendant made out of small garnet stones. "Thank you Garcia" he said.

"No thank you Dave, this is… it's beautiful" she said taking the necklace out of the box. Dave smiled. He figured she would like it. He stood up and moved behind her. He gently moved her hair to the side and clasped the necklace around her neck.

"I need to be going, but I just wanted to give you that and thank you" he said moving towards the door. Garcia stood and showed him out, giving him a small hug and a kiss on the cheek before he left. Garcia smiled and fingered the necklace. She had a new favorite.

Dave sat in his office on Monday morning. The pile of work seemed to grow and his energy was dwindling already. He stood and made his way to the break room, determined to get a decent cup of coffee before he buried himself in his office. As he walked in he spotted Garcia talking with JJ. And that was when he spotted it. She was wearing the necklace he had given her that weekend. Dave got his coffee and headed back to his office, a firm smile set on his lips.
