Chapter 21

I could still hear him.

"How dare you defy me Rose! You are mine and I will have you!"

I just kept pulling on a link that I felt was being newly formed. It was warm and soft. It was filled with love. The bond was there and I felt a very worried Lissa.

"Lissa, please don't worry." I couldn't communicate it through the bond, but I could still speak it in my mind. I would hope she felt the feelings that go with the words.

I won't let you take me. I will fight to be with my family. Those who would fight to keep me around. You don't stand a chance.

I won't let you go!

You don't have a say in it. I'm going back to my family. I will have this link completely severed when I wake. You can't stop me now.

You bitch! You are my only chance at freedom! I will get out of here!

Not because of me you won't.

I didn't even have to wait until I woke up. I felt the link vanish completely once I denied him freedom through me. And like that I was free. My children are stronger than he is, and because of that they saved my life. I am now only linked to my children. I can feel their power flowing through me. I can feel love.

Lissa seems to feel much better for some reason. I don't know why though. She seems to be really happy.

"She isn't in pain anymore. Does this mean she won the battle?" I was feeling really happy that she wasn't in pain anymore. I felt the pains he was but I was able to dim the bond so I wasn't completely cripple by it like she was.

Dimitri was looking at her with so much worry and love. The kids finally fell asleep in the cribs they had here in the infirmary. Dimitri never let go of Rose's hand since she was placed here.

"Dimitri. You don't have to worry so much. She's no longer in pain. She seems to be quite peaceful now. I don't feel an ounce of pain through the bond anymore." He looked at me with joy in his eyes, but there was still some worry showing through.

I smiled and looked back at Rose just as she was starting to come too.

I stayed with her the whole time. I never left her side. As soon as the kids finally fell asleep, she started to wake up. I was so overjoyed that I couldn't help but call her name over and over again until she answered me.

"Roza? Can you hear me Roza?"

"Dimitri, turn the lights out. It so bright." She responded with a snarky remark. That's my Roza.

"UGH! Seriously why is it so bright in here. People are trying to sleep around here."

"Rose, this isn't an area for napping. If you're going to get up, get up." Christian said just as he was walking in the room.

She opened her eyes only glare at Christian before turning to me. I love those beautiful brown eyes. I could look in them for eternity and never get tired of them.

"Ugh. I'm tried. I feel like my body had been awake for months without any sleep." She still looks beautiful even though she is covered in dirt from the ground.

"Dimitri. Hold me." I gladly obeyed that request. Even though she made it seem like demand.

"That's my Roza."
