Fenrir looked up from where he was siting at the campfire as Obsidian approached. Once he saw who it was he smiled widely showing off his fangs.

"My Prince! I did not expect you to come visit so soon!"

Obsidian sighed and sat down next to Fenrir on the log, "Well I did not expect this human school to be so…draining."

Fenrir chuckled, "Yes Hogwarts is rather a lot to take in at once. I remember my short stay there before I was brought into the lycan lifestyle. Like many others, my Hogwarts experience was not that great."

"Did you attend with father?"

Fenrir laughed, throwing his head up to the sky, "How old do you think I am?"

Obsidian frowned and looked down. "I feel that I do not know as much about Tom as I should."

Fenrir shrugged, "Your circumstances are special, just give it time."

"You are rather wise for such a creature."

Fenrir smirked, "I don't know whether to be offended or pleased."

"Take it as a complement from your king."

Fenrir grinned and pointed a claw at Obsidian, "Your not king yet, my Prince."

"Yes, just an unfortunate setback to my plans."

"And what plans are those?"

"Why the complete takeover of this world that is."

Fenrir threw his head back again, laughing once more up at the moon. Obsidian frowned, "I am quite serious Greyback. Once I become king of the Basilisks I will have complete control of all magical creatures, creatures such as giants, dragons, vampires, and of course basilisks. My army will be unstoppable."

"You know your father isn't going to agree to this."

"Of course not. His ambitions are too similar to mine. Although in time he will see my way. Especially if I sweeten things by giving him the secret to eternal life."

"You have that?"

"The lives of humans are short. The secret to immortality in man was discovered long ago by a sect of dark elves in Russia."

Fenrir grinned, "You, my Prince, are one sly fox."

Obsidian stood up, "Sly snake Fenrir not a fox. I thank you for the company, unfortunately though I must take my leave. My roommates will awaken soon."

"Anytime Obsidian, you know where to find me." Fenrir grinned that toothy grin again before waving at Obsidians receding back.

Obsidian entered his room just as Draco was sitting up.

"You're up early"

"I just returned from visiting Greyback" Obsidian stated, retrieving his robes from within his trunk, and putting them on.

Draco's eyes widened, "He's here?"

"In the forest."

"Does Dumbledore know?"

"Of course not."

Draco thought for a bit before grinning, "Have you had breakfast yet?"

Obsidian smirked before following Draco back out the door he had just entered from.

Blaise Zabini slowly sat up from his bed, looking wearily at the door that Draco and Obsidian had just exited from. 'So Obsidian has protectors even here at Hogwarts?' he thought, 'how am I supposed to approach him without him calling for backup?' Blaise sighed.

"What are you sighing for Zabini?"

Blaise jumped out of his bed and yelped, causing Theo to snigger. He then looked at Theo, his face red, "Theodore Nott you scoundrel! How long have you been up?"

Theo shrugged and looked at the door, "Not too long."

Blaise sighed and dragged Theo out of bed. "Come on, we might as well get up before all the food is gone."

At the mention of food Crabbe and Goyle both sat up at the same time from their beds and started towards the door, not changing or doing anything the only thing on their minds was the delicious breakfast they would have when they reached the great hall.

Theo and Blaise watched the two boys leave before bursting out in laughter.

Obsidian stood in Care of Magical Creatures down by a large shack frowning. He was the only Slytherin in the entire class, not to mention that both Weasley and Longbottom were also with him in class. Obsidian sighed and then noticed that the girl from the carriages, Luna, was waving him over. Obsidian walked over to her, giving her a pleasant smile. She smiled at him dreamily in return before turning her attention to the shack in front where an enormous man just stepped out.

"Hullo! My names Rubeus Hagrid, but all ya can call me Hagrid. Ima be your Care of Magical Creatures professor for the rest of the year! Before we get started here how many of you know what a thestral is?"

Only a few hands went up and Hagrid smiled, "Well for those that don't know much today your going to get up close and personal with a couple."

Hagrid led the class into a clearing in the forbidden forest, where Obsidian saw a herd of the skeletal pegasi standing.

A couple of the other students were looking around confused as to why they were stopped, the poofy haired girl from the train brought it up. "But professor, there's nothing here."

"Ah but there is Ms. Granger. Thestrals are rather special creatures, and can only be seen by those who have seen death."

Longbottom raised his hand, "But professor why can't I see anything than? I saw Voldemort and my parents die."

Hagrid looked at Longbottom then back at the thestrals, "I'm not really sure Mr. Longbottom, by all accounts you should be able to see them. Hmm very odd."

Obsidian rolled his eyes and grabbed Luna's hand, dragging her to the front of the group and up to a thestral.

"Ah Mr. Prince was it? I wouldn't do that if I were you, these creatures are very unpredictable and can cause serious harm if they are approached by someone they don't know." Hagrid Stated warily.

Obsidian waved him off and approached the largest thestral in the herd. It looked up at Obsidian approaching and stepped forward to meet him. Obsidian stroked the skeletal horse and met its eyes with his. It then bowed deeply along with the rest of the herd. Hagrid clapped in awe.

"Amazing Mr. Prince! How did you do that?"

Obsidian smirked and walked back to the rest of the class and Luna, "I'm not sure sir, they must just know greatness when they see it."

Neville seethed in rage as Ron looked shocked, "How do you think he did that?"

"Did what Ron?! I can't see the bloody horses remember!"

"Oh. Right, sorry mate. Well all of the thestals in the herd bowed their heads to him, almost like he was their king or something."

Neville fumed, "King my arse, that long haired freak is going to get what's coming to him!"

Ron frowned and looked back at Hagrid who had started talking in detail about all the known facts about thestrals. Hermione he noticed was scribbling furiously in a notebook. He sighed and smiled in her direction, he loved it when she acted all serious.

Obsidian frowned down at his food. His divination class had been terrible. His teacher was most definitely insane. She kept telling Obsidian that everyone he loved would die and that he was never going to be king. The rest of the classed was very confused but Obsidian was furious. How could this woman know anything?! She was just some crackpot that taught some silly class on how to read tea leaves.

Luna again joined him in the class, she seemed to be rather good at it and actually succeeded in making actual conversation with the professor about the variety of meanings within finding clovers in your shoe.

Obsidian sighed and stabbed his steak with a knife.

Draco smoothly slid into the seat next to Obsidian, smirking.

"So how was divination?"

Obsidian groaned and Draco grinned, "well, double potions with Severus was insightful as always. Too bad your technically a first year and cant qualify to take it."

Obsidian glared at Draco who just smirked, and started putting food onto his plate. "So I heard you made quite a scene at Care of Magical Creatures today, I overheard Weasley telling Finnigan about it."

"I was just making sure my subjects know whose in charge."

"Righttttt" Draco smirked, "You weren't just trying to impress your new girlfriend Loony Lovegood."

Obsidian frowned, "She's not my girlfriend, we just have mutual interests."

"If you say so." Draco smirked and Blaise and Theo appeared and sat across from Draco and Obsidian. Theo grinning and Blaise looking completive.

"You too have transfiguration next too right?" Draco asked Blaise and Theo.

"Huh? Yeah" Blaise said lost in his thoughts. Theo looked at Blaise in confusion before grinning at Draco.

"Hopefully McGonagall wont be too bad this year

Obsidian looked up from his steak, "Which one is McGonagall?"

"She led you into the hall with the first years the other day."

"Oh. You mean the cat."

Theo frowned, "How'd you know that?"

"She reeks of it."

"hmm I never noticed."

Draco stood up as lunch ended and stretched, "If you ladies are finished gossiping, I would rather not be late for class."

Theo blushed and hastily stood up, Obsidian and Blaise following more leisurely. Blaise stopped Obsidian as he started to follow Draco and Theo to class.

"Listen Obsidian I have something I urgently need to discuss with you after class. You have a free period next right?"

Obsidian frowned, he didn't remember sharing his schedule with Blaise also he a good idea on what this conversation would be about.

"Fine, Zabini. We shall meet in our room after Transfiguration."

Blaise nodded before hurrying up to make it to class. Obsidian glared at his retreating back.

Fenrir stalked the perimeter of the forbidden forest looking for weaknesses in the Hogwarts defense. Besides keeping an eye on the prince, the Dark Lord had tasked him with infiltrating the Castle's defenses and learning Dumbledore's weakness. His Lord had expressly told him not to inform Obsidian of this second agenda.

"Alpha, the giant is close to catching on about our presence, he keeps interrogating the centaurs."

Fenrir growled, "Well you lead him off the trail while the rest of the pack moves camp than!"

The other werewolf cowered, "Yes alpha" before slinking back into the forest.

Fenrir suddenly grinned, of course the giant! He could be his answer to all of his problems! Fenrir grinned and took one last look at the castle before chasing after the other lycan to inform him of the change of plans.

Transfiguration was as dull as Draco had told Obsidian it would undoubtedly be. The entire classroom reeked of feline, causing Obsidian to be on edge the entire class. Obsidian waved to Draco as the other boy left for arithmancy, Obsidian heading to his room to meet up with Blaise and "talk".

Obsidian opened the door to his shared room to find Blaise sitting on Obsidian's bed, looking away from him. He turned his head towards Obsidian and stood up, walking around the bed, his hand on the frame.

"You know, my family has remained rather neutral during this war. Tending not to have to choose sides, in case we should choose wrong, of course."

Obsidian glared at Blaise, his hand clenching and unclenching, "Neutrality is the cowards' way. If you cannot make a decision you will reap no rewards from either side."

Blaise looked at him before looking at the wall in contemplation, "Hmm that may be, but there is always a cost to either side of the war. The dark asks for complete servitude, and essentially giving your life away to the whims of a madman. The light on the other hand, calls for control of your life and every action you make to be at the call of a senile old coot. In my opinion neither of those options sound very appealing." Blaise then turned to Obsidian his eyebrow raised in curiosity, "What does your side offer Obsidian?"

"I don't have a side, this is not my war."

"Really? You are a wizard are you not? If not your war than is it really any of our war? Or is it just an argument between two old men?"

Obsidian clenched his teeth, "Why did you call this meeting Blaise?"

"Because, Prince. I know who you are."

"And who is that?" Obsidian asked, tensing to strike.

"Why the unholy spawn of that monster Voldemort. You are the Dark Prince."

Obsidian smirked, "Unfortunately for you. Your deduction is correct." Obsidian lunged at Blaise, the illusion on his face falling off, his sharpened teeth sinking into Blaise's neck. Blaise was also quick though and sent a blasting hex at Obsidian, knocking the boy back into the far wall, leaving him unharmed though as the protection ring still resided on Obsidians pale finger.

Obsidian smiled and licked his lips with his forked tongue. He then withdrew a double sided dagger from within his boot and grinned at Blaise who looked at Obsidian in determination. Obsidian charged Blaise and started slashing at him wildly with the dagger, Blaise proceeded to either dodge or deflect the blows with a crystal sheath that had formed around his wand.

"You know Zabini, I haven't had this much fun in ages!" Obsidian stated breathily as he was slashing at the other boy.

Blaise cried out as one of Obsidians slices found its mark, blood seeping from his right shoulder and he quickly put his wand in his left hand shakily raising it up to Obsidian in defiance.

"Why do you fight for him!?" Blaise asked in exasperation, still holding his wand against Obsidian who was now circling him.

"You should know the answer to that. He's my father, the only blood family I have left. Also he made me an offer I couldn't possibly refuse."

"What could be that important?!"

Obsidian regarded Blaise with a cool calculation before returning to his basilisk form, his body almost completely taking up the room.

"My kingdom." Obsidian stated in very accented English.

Blaise stepped back in shock, tripping and falling to the ground, his wand clattering to the floor.

Glowing green eyes stared at Blaise intently before Obsidian turned back into his human form and approached Blaise.

"You- you're a basilisk!"

"So it seems." Obsidian stated, looking at his nails.

"How come I'm not petrified?"

Obsidian scoffed, "Basilisks only petrify things if they so choose, we have a special eyelid that blocks our paralysis gaze. If everything we saw became paralyzed we would never get anything done."

Blaise nodded but then looked up at Obsidian, who sighed and gave Blaise a hand standing up.

"So you're what, the king of basilisks?"

"Not quite yet."

Blaise had the look of something dawning on him, "That's what the Dark Lord's helping you with, isn't it? He's going to make you king!"

"Something like that."

Blaise then narrowed his eyes at Obsidian, "Why didn't you kill me?"

"You are smart Zabini, I need people like you on my side, not dead at my feet."

"I'm not going to serve your father."

"I'm not asking you to. I'm asking you to serve me."

Blaise looked at Obsidian, unconsciously rubbing his bleeding neck where Obsidian had bitten him. "I want to be second in command."

"That position is currently filled by young Malfoy. If you can best him in a duel though, the spot is yours. I do not need weak people tarnishing my name."

Blaise thought for a second before sticking his good arm out, "Deal."

Obsidian smiled, showing his jagged fangs, "Deal."

He then turned from Blaise and looked around at the wreckage of their room. "Now let us get this place cleaned up and you healed before anyone notices. Fillo!"

Blaise watched curiously as a house elf popped into existence.

"What can Fillo do for Master?"

"Clean up this mess and get some high grade healing potions from Severus for Mr. Zabini here."

"Anything to please the Master!"

The elf disappeared and reappeared with a disgruntled Severus Snape. Obsidian glared at the elf.

"This is not what I asked for Fillo."

The elf started crying, "I'm sorry Master! He wouldn't give me anything unless he came along!" The elf than started punching itself in the face, "Bad Fillo! Naughty Fillo!"

"Enough! Just get to work returning this room to its former state."

The elf smiled, blood gushing from its mouth, "Right away Master!" and set off magically restoring the room.

Severus Snape frowned at the current state of things taking in the destroyed room, the heavily wounded boy and his completely unharmed "Nephew".

"I take it Young Mr. Zabini found out about your little secret?"

"He's quite smart."

"As I already gathered." Severus knelt next to Blaise who was panting on the floor sitting against the wall in a growing pool of his own blood. Severus got to work cutting off the arm of Blaise's shirt and assessing the wounds.

"hmm enjoying the new dagger?" He addressed Obsidian while administering a potion to Blaises wound.

"Quite. I have never worked with this sort of weapon before but found it relatively easy to manage."

"Good. Now Mr. Zabini lift your head up so I may take a look at this, ah bite." Severus looked at Obsidian, his eyebrow lifted. Obsidian grinned and licked his lips and Severus sighed. "I'm afraid this is going to leave quite the scar Mr. Zabini."

"It'll remind me always of my Lord."

Severus sighed before giving Blaise a blood-replenishing potion and helping the boy to his bed. He then turned to Obsidian. "Calling yourself a Dark Lord now?"

"I don't presume to call myself anything. I let the people call me what they wish. If they decide I am a dark lord I will do nothing to correct them."

"You were lucky that my last class had finished, or else I might not have been able to save Mr. Zabini from bleeding out."

"If than I would have lost a great mind and gained a meal."

Severus Paled at the inclination before turning to the door to the common room. "Do at least try to resist drawing attention to yourself. Dumbledore has his eye on you, and that is not something you want."

"I'll let you worry about the old coot and you let me worry about learning the ways of the wizarding world so I can go back to ruling my kingdom."

Severus grunted and walked out the door, his robes billowing behind him. Obsidian watched him leave before following behind and sitting in the common room on the largest chair, Draco entering the room as soon as Obsidian had touched the chair.

Draco smirked at Obsidian and sat next to him in a chair to his right. "Welcome back Draco, while you were gone we gained a new ally against the light."

Draco looked at Obsidian in a serene yet curious way, "Really who?"

"Me." Blaise stood at the top of stairs to the boys' dorm and made his way to the small chair on Obsidians left, sitting on it, while unconsciously rubbing his now scarred throat.

Obsidian grinned, his face darkening, "Finally this school is starting to get interesting."

The three sat as the rest of their house filed into the common room. Obsidian watching with a predatory glint in his eyes, wondering which one of these sheep would be the next to ascend to the kingdom of snakes.

AN: So, here's my excuse for not updating this story in so long. I tried multiple times to update it, but in the process of rereading my old chapters I could never make it to the end, probably because of embarrassment in my poor writing skills from 8th grade.

Anyway here's the long awaited poll results although as most know by now which option won.

Blaise dies – 10 votes

Obsidian Brainwashes Blaise – 9 votes

Blaise Memory Wiped - 8 votes

Voldemort Tortures Blaise – 9 votes

Obsidian welcomes Blaise and tells him rest of secret – 18 votes

Obsidian welcomes Blaise but doesn't tell him rest of secret – 13 votes.

Expect more updates later this summer.

EDIT: I took the thestral scene out of one of the previous chapters and moved it here where it would make more sense, apologies if it causes any confusion.
