A/N: Sorry I'm late guys, please enjoy.

The small clock ticked quietly filling the room with a peaceful melody. However, Connie's mind was far from being in peaceful bliss. After all, she had one son dead and the other missing. She stared out of the porthole window from the bed with sad eyes; the dusk was beautiful tonight, with the reef's city lights glowing brightly in the distance. It failed to reflect the atmosphere of the ship.

She knew the life she signed up for when she got involved with Lino. His associates, his lifestyle, the whole works; there was no wool to shield her eyes from these facts. Even when she'd given him their children, she knew that at some point they would be introduced to their father's shady underworld.

When that time had come and gone, she had constantly considered the number of ways their lives could end. I need to prepare, she would tell herself, for the news that she knew would be the ruin of her. Despite her private preparation, it turned to be all in vain.

She was the one that found him. Out there alone in a crippled, battered position. Connie never travelled to that part of the ocean, especially as she knew it was one of the many locations Lino 'took care' of certain problems. It was only because of the oddly large amount of sand floating up to the surface that she decided to investigate. She wished it could have been anyone but her. She would never be able to remove that image from her mind. But at least she knew he was dead.

Horribly as it sounded, Connie was glad that Frankie was at peace. It was more than she could say for Lenny, who could be dead or alive. Just missing. Suddenly it seemed so long ago when she would watched her children play around the ship, happy and content.

Connie could mourn for Frankie, she had said goodbye to him at his funeral. She couldn't do the same for Lenny.

The light creak of the bedroom door brought Connie out of her thoughts. She didn't want to be disturbed. Since the whole fiasco started, she had been smothered by everyone with their sympathies. She appreciated, but she didn't want sympathy, she wanted her sons.

She turned towards the doors to send them away. "Please…" she half whispered, trying to control the emotion in her voice. "I just want-"She stopped mid-sentence as she laid eyes on the figure in the doorway.

It took a moment for her to register who it was. He looked the same much to her surprise; slightly overweight and bashful face features. He looked clean and healthy too. It was like he had never left.

"Hi Mom," Lenny said almost shyly. He looked to the floor and trembled in his spot and fiddled with his fins, as if he was afraid to move any closer. He barely had time to brace himself as he felt a swift force embrace him.

Connie wept into his neck as she hugged her lost son. "Oh, Lenny…" she whispered as she felt him hug her back. It took a few moments for her to pull herself together. Slowly, she pushed herself away and cupped his face in her fins. "I thought I'd lost you…"

Lenny smiled and pulled her into another hug. Connie looked over his shoulder and saw her husband appear in the doorway out of the shadows. Reaching towards him with her fin, Lino swam towards her and took hold of it tightly. She smiled at him with teary eyes, thankful that he'd brought their son home.

Lino's guilt disappeared once he saw her forgiving smile. He would have a lot of explaining to about the day's previous events. However, he decided they'd talk over the details later; wanting to savour the moment with his family as long as possible.

"I'm so glad you're back" Connie breathed closing her eyes. Lino smiled and kissed her forehead, while Lenny held her tighter.

"Me too Ma, me too."

A/N: Well, there you go. I decided that this should be the last chapter, for these reasons:

I think it ends nicely considering the previous chapter

I'm off to university in September, and knowing me I'd probably never finish the story

I honestly can't think of anything else that could sum up a better ending

There was no way that I'd leave the story as an abandoned status, so I just had to finish for you guys. I also have to finish my other story too; it doesn't end! Though writing here has given me quite a lot of joy. If anyone wants to adapt this story in anyway, feel free. I'll probably still be reading fanfiction, so just let me know. It was a pleasure writing for you guys.
