Innuendos

A/N: I don't own Covert Affairs, it's characters, or parts of the dialog.

Thank you for reading this. It's just a fun piece, doesn't really serve a purpose, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

Annie Walker had a quirk of making unintended sexual innuendos, or so Auggie thought.

For instance, the time she said, "I'd like to know how dirty I'm gonna get," had caused Auggie to think some very inappropriate thoughts.

And let's not forget the time she mumbled, "I should've known when his robe came off."

Her sister sets her up for blind dates constantly, and after date-night, she comes to work more stressed than usual.

That girl was quirky alright. Auggie was going to miss her for the week that he took off for Cancun. But Cancun had its perks too. Hot girls(not that he could see them), nice weather(not that he really ever cared about the weather)... He grinned and leaned back into his chair.

Danielle and her husband had decided to take a second honeymoon, so it stands to reason that they couldn't take their daughters along. Of course, poor Annie was cajoled into being a babysitter for a week, because despite all her CIA training, Annie still couldn't win in an argument against her older sister.

"Huh?" Annie could only stare blankly, "C-can I think it over?"

"Aw, come on. What's there to think about?"

"Well," Annie thought quickly, "I have work," she finished lamely.

"So... Take time off. You'll be doing us a huge favor! And besides, they love their aunt."

.::::::::::.

She couldn't do it.

It wasn't that she didn't want to take care of them, it was that she couldn't. She was in the middle of an investigation, and, unlike a certain tech-ops, her time was spread thin.

So while her best friend and her family were on vacation, Annie would be running back and forth between the agency, her house, the niece's school, and god-knows-where.

Unless she could convince Auggie to postpone his vacation. It was a horrible thing to do, deprive a man of his vacation and set him to work with kids, but Annie did not want to hire a babysitter. Months at the CIA had taught her paranoia wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

.::::::::::.

Auggie had a vague feeling that there was something Annie wanted to ask him. Something big.

That evening, they sat at their usual table at the tavern. It had become tradition to visit after a particularly hard day.

"You had something to ask me, Annie?" he smiled.

"Oh. No."

He chuckled. "Liar."

"No, really. It's nothing."

He could practically feel hesitation oozing off of her.

"Come on. Just tell me."

She paused, searching for the most tactful way to ask him.

"Auggie?"

"Yes?"

"Have you ever thought about... you know? Having kids?"

Auggie choked on his beer. Whatever he had thought she was going to ask, it was anything but that.
