"Here we are," Alice announced as she nudged the door open. "Home away from home."

Hatter surveyed the hardwood finishes with a nod of appreciation, then frowned as he turned to face the mirrors that took up an entire wall.

"They're just regular mirrors," she reassured him. "No suits are coming after us out of those."

"No suits are coming after you ever, Alice of Legend," he said, earning himself the slightly annoyed, slightly embarrassed, slightly pleased click of the tongue he was getting rather good at eliciting. "All of Wonderland loves you now. Well. Except the queen, she's none too fond of you as of yet, but I say give her time." He waved his hand at the mirror and quirked an inquisitive eyebrow. "Often feel the need to watch yourself throw grown men around?"

"Not often," she retorted. "I'm usually too focused on what I'm doing for that. It's a multipurpose studio. There are a few dance classes that meet in here, too."

"Dance classes," he mumbled. "We should try that sometime." He grimaced at his reflection. This new hairstyle still caught him off guard, and his eyes still seemed...well, naked.

"Sure, if you're not too stiff after I teach you the right way to be thrown around." No answer. "What is it?"

"Nothing. It's just..."

"Just what?" she prompted patiently.

He shrugged. "Haven't gotten used to it, I guess. The new look."

She laughed and tugged at his hand, pulling his attention away from the glass. "Oh, you mean the one where officers of the law don't interrogate you for looking shifty?"

He huffed aggrievedly. "I didn't look shifty."

"Maybe not in Wonderland, you didn't." She paused, then shook her head. "No, even in Wonderland, you did."

"Not entirely trustworthy, eh?" he asked bitterly.

"That's not fair," she said. "I wouldn't have trusted you no matter how you looked."

"Not sure that's exactly comforting."

She grabbed his face in both hands. "Shut up and listen, Hatter."

"Yes, m..." The remaining half of the word "ma'am" was cut off by Alice's hand over his mouth.

"You earned my trust. Completely. And you won it with your actions, not your appearance. I fell in love with your heart, not your face. I wouldn't care if you looked like Dodo, I'd still love you."

He grinned against her hand. "Seh eww luffma?"

Brows furrowed, she released him. "Come again?"

"So you love me?"

"I said if you looked like Dodo, not if you acted like a dodo."

"You're so cute when you're defensive."

"Speaking of looks, what would you think if I dyed my hair blond?"

"Oh, I'd still love you, too, no question," he said. She smiled as he leaned towards her. "You'd just look bloody awful, I expect."

He got the punch to the arm at the same time he got the kiss.
