Hello people!

This is a short fanfic I got the idea for after watching the Fullmetal Alchemist movie 'Conqueror of Shamballa'. I didn't like the end of it, and thought it should have gone more like this. So, I wrote it in a fanfic. Please tell me what you think!

Counqueror of Shamballa Alternate Ending

The battered aircraft plummeted towards the ground, the Gate above it bathing the ground below in a bright, golden light.

The light showed a complex transmutation circle made up of swirls and ripples, straight lines and incomprehensible calculations. To one side of this was a large factory, deserted but for Alphonse Heidrich and Noah. The other side was occupied by a small group of Nazis.

As the rocket smashed into the circle, a huge wave of sound, light and heat burst from it, causing everyone nearby to cover their faces with their arms. When it cleared, the ship was in ruins and buried deep in the ground. A hatch on the side of the vehicle was wide open, revealing... Something... that stood inside, cloaked in shadows.

As it strode forwards, it revealed its full form- a hideous, humanoid creature made up of weird black, rubber-like material. It lurched forwards and grabbed Noah by the neck.

Noah screamed and the creature rasped in a distorted, mutated voice, "Y-y-you will o-o-open the gate ag-gain so I m-may dest-troy that wor-world!"

Noah screamed again, but the monster's reply was cut off by the crack of gunfire.

Hughes stood, legs spread shoulder-width apart, both hands tight around his pistol, and stared as the monster collapsed to the floor. The rubber-like appearance dissolved, revealing the visage of Dietlinde Eckhart. She tried to say something, but could only gasp out her final breath.

As the Nazis stood, shocked, at the death of Eckhart, another figure slowly emerged from the wreckage.

"Ed!" Noah cried, cradling Alphonse- who had finally succumbed to his illness and died- in her arms.

"Hey," Ed said, "It's me. I'm back. For good."

"No you're not, Brother." Ed spun around at the sound of the voice- Al's voice, his brother's voice- emanating from an empty suit of armour that had fallen from the ship when it crashed.

Ed's eyes softened as he realised what he was looking at, "Al. But it's just a soul attachment, isn't it? It won't last long."

"You're right, Brother. So, we should get you back through the Gate quickly!"

Ed looked startled at that, "What? No! I have to close this side of the Gate!"

Al shook his head, "No, you don't. You go back through, and I'll seal this side before my soul attachment wears off."

"B-b-but it's impossible! Al- Al Heidrich, your lookalike in this world- said I had to travel at eleven kilometres a second to avoid getting crushed on the way through!"

Again, Al shook his head. That habit was starting to annoy Ed. "That was when the Gate was only opened from one side. Since it's been opened separately in both this world and our world, it should be stable enough for you to pass through."

Ed looked at his younger brother in awe. He thought for a moment, and then said slowly, "Alright."

Al grinned and grabbed his collar, throwing Ed up and towards the Gate.

"W-wait, Al! The Gate's hundreds of metres in the air on the other side!"

But Al wasn't listening, too intent on shattering the supports around the room with the strength of the armour.

Ed burst through the Gate and began to fall through the air, ready to become a smear on the crumpled cityscape below. He screamed out, but he continued to fall. Falling, falling, falling... Then, with a 'thump!', he landed on top of Mustang on the small bit of wing he had previously detached from the otherworldly aircraft.

The Colonel groaned under Ed's weight, and Al, back in his real body, giggled, "Brother, I think you're crushing him!"
