AN: Finished watching Angel Beats and couldn't leave it be without contributing at least a drabble. Enjoy.

Yuzuru lowered the book in his hands to the table, secretly peeking at the girl sitting across him. She didn't notice his gentle gaze. She was completely absorbed in the thick textbook lying open before her. Her golden eyes moved over the lines at a constant rate, stopping to blink once after every finished paragraph. Both her hands rested on top of the table, moving only when she finished a page.

Kanade would often seem to disappear when in a crowd. But in the silence of a university library, the reverse happened. There was no time when the impression Kanade made was stronger than now. Her monumental calm made her one with the room, like a tiny fortress of serenity within the storms of everyday life.

It was a windless, sunny day. Rays of sunlight entered undisturbed through the open windows, filling the place with warmth and drawing a halo on Kanade's white hair. Yuzuru watched this petite angel with a growing smile on his face. A butterfly had made its resting place on Kanade's hair, flapping its wings lazily from time to time.

Silently flipping another page, Kanade looked up for a second and caught Yuzuru staring. Her head remained bowed over the book, but her round eyes fixed themselves on Yuzuru's face, beginning their relentless interrogation.

Yuzuru chuckled nervously, not even attempting to face Kanade in a staring contest. Her warm eyes pierced through his defenses like a summery breeze melts through ice. And she would keep at it until he gave her an excuse for his actions. He could also come out with the embarrassing truth, if he were less of a coward.

"When I see you like this, I feel sorry I ever shot at you."

It came out of his lips without him realizing what he was saying. The utter absurdity of the statement only hit him a second later.

"Mm," Kanade accepted his declaration, completely unperturbed. She lowered her gaze and returned to her reading, with apparently no intention of questioning him what he meant by 'shooting at her'.

Yuzuru let out a sigh, but s smile refused to leave his face. He didn't know if he should be worried that he was going crazy, or glad that his girlfriend didn't seem to mind.
