The Proposal
Summary: He asked her to marry him. She said yes. Or well, something like that...
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
Sasuke was annoyed, just like always, because this was just a very very normal day. Everything was as it always was. He had been the first to arrive at the bridge, which was still the meeting point for Team Kakashi when they went on missions together. Sakura had arrived not much later. He had acknowledged her "Good morning, Sasuke-kun" with his characteristic "Hn." And now they were waiting for Naruto and Kakashi, who were, of course, late.
Just like always.
Sakura sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, but she didn't complain like she had when they were younger. She had grown up to be a beautiful woman, Sasuke had to admit, and one hell of a kunoichi. Her strength had been the first thing he acknowledged and made him respect her. She had saved Naruto's life on a mission, using highly advanced medical ninjutsu back then, and this had been the moment he had started seeing her.
He had begun to watch her more closely, and had had to admit that she wasn't as annoying and weak as she used to be. She didn't cling to him anymore, even though she still used the stupid "-kun" that made him cringe inwardly. She was calm, caring, reliable, and just always there, and Sasuke found that he liked this development.
"I talked to the priest yesterday", he said in a bored tone, as if he were speaking about the weather. He didn't look at her, or take his hands out his pockets, nor did he shift from his usual I'm-better-than-you-and-incredibly-annoyed-by-your-mere-presence Uchiha stance.
Sakura's head perked up and she looked at him, confused.
"He said he'd have time for us on Friday. After all, the ceremony won't take much longer than half an hour, plus signing the papers", Sasuke continued just as blaze as before.
Sakura frowned as she tried to assess his words.
"Sasuke Uchiha", she said slowly, "Are you asking me to marry you?"
"So it would seem."
"Ah." There was a small pause. Then: "Okay."
Finally, Sasuke looked at her and suppressed a smirk. "Good."
Sakura inhaled deeply, and then she began to laugh softly. "That was she must have been the shittiest proposal I ever got."
Sasuke didn't move a single muscle. He didn't care. He was the practical type, so what had she expected?
Wait-
"Are you saying you were proposed to before?", Sasuke inquired through gritted teeth.
"Uh, well, yeah, Lee asked me the other day...it was really romantic, with roses and candles and everything..." Sakura giggled softly at the memory.
Lee?
"Do you want me to buy roses?", Sasuke asked flatly.
This made Sakura laugh even more. "No, I'm fine."
"Good."
"I- Hey, where are you going?", she called after him.
"I've got someone to kill."
