Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's wrist and started dragging her to the elevator. "Hey! Stop yanking on me. What has gotten you so upset?" asked Kagome

"Nothing important." Replied Inuyasha. 'I am not going to let her worry about anything that is going on. If I want her to accept this mating then she doesn't need any extra stress added to her life that would cause her to deny me.'

Kagome just looked up at him and knew that he was keeping something from her. 'Let him have his secrets. I will find out about them eventually.' Thought Kagome. "So where are we going for lunch today?" she asked.

"Just this little bistro a couple blocks down. I figured my expecting mate would require some nutritious food to feed her and the little embryo." Was Inuyasha's answer as he looked both ways across the street; still dragging Kagome along.

As he expected that got Kagome's mind off his reaction to Naraku's visit, "I am not pregnant!" she yelled. She stopped suddenly and all Inuyasha could see was her hair blowing in the breeze and her beautiful blue eyes glinting with anger in the midday sun.

'She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. How am I so lucky as to end up with someone as magnificent as her as my mate' was Inuyasha's thought. All of a sudden he felt a sting in the middle of his chest only to look down and see that Kagome had smacked him. Oops he probably should have been paying attention to her ire instead of daydreaming about her beauty. But what a beauty she was.

"Inuyasha!" said an exasperated Kagome "Pay attention and get your head out of the clouds."

"Sorry mate. I was only thinking of how beautiful you are in your anger." Inuyasha said with a cajoling smile.

They walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess. "Good afternoon Mr. Tashio. The usual seat alright?"

"Yes. Thank you." Replied Inuyasha.

After the hostess sat them they ordered their drinks. "What did Naraku want?"

"A merger. You guessed correctly." Said a frowning Inuyasha.

"Are you considering the merger? Because he's kind of creepy. Not that creepiness is how you should judge a business partner but you know sometimes that can be a sign. Also it can cause problems in the workplace and just weird uncomfortable situations that are probably best left avoided."

"You're cute when you ramble." Inuyasha said while smiling at an out of breath Kagome. She really was though with her flushed cheeks and her eyes sparkling from talking so fast.

Kagome gave Inuyasha a pouting look, "That is not an actual response."

"You're right. No I do not plan to merge with Naraku. There are many reasons as to why not but the main one is your safety."

"What do you mean my safety? Why would a merger with Naraku make me not safe?" questioned a very confused Kagome. "I know that there have been questionable lawsuits against him and his company but all of those have been overturned."

"Well you know the saying, where there is smoke there is fire, and in this case there is a very large fire that somehow keeps being stoked."

Kagome has been watching Inuyasha the whole time they had been talking about Naraku and saw that he was slowly bunching himself up. His shoulders were tense, his hands were in fists and if she were the brave sort and touched his thighs, she knew that she would feel the strain of his muscles as if he were preparing to jump up at any second. Moving up his body to his face she tilted her head and studied his features. Inuyasha's jaw was clenched his amber eyes were glinting as if they were lit with an internal fire. This subject really affected him and Kagome was determined to find out why. Not because she cared in a feelings sort of way, but because of how this affects work. At least that is what she was telling herself.

They finished the rest of lunch in a comfortable silence breaking eating to talk about the food, work, and mutual friends. Once done eating they headed back to the office to finish out the day. Inuyasha was able to calm down and push Naraku into the back of his mind.

After the meeting between Naraku and Inuyasha, Naraku was fuming. He walked out the front doors of the office building and got into his town car where his own secretary was waiting for him.

One look at his face and the beautiful red-eyed demon with alabaster skin and luscious black hair said "I take it the meeting was not successful."

Naraku turned to her. "I wouldn't exactly say that my dear Kagura." The sentence ended with a sinister smile from Naraku. "I was able to gain some information that is highly valuable."

"Well are you going to share this "valuable" information?" asked an unimpressed Kagura without even looking up from her phone.

Naraku shot her a glare. "Be careful that your attitude doesn't get away from you. You are not invaluable." He took a drink from his glass of scotch and then proceeded to continue talking. "It turns out that Inuyasha has found his mate. And a delectable one at that."

At that Kagura looked up, put down her phone, and let out a small smirk. "Well that is very useful information indeed. And who might this poor mate of his be?"

"Kagome Higurashi. A little human at that. Look into her. I want to know everything there is to know about the human. She is going to be the key to Inuyasha and gaining his company."

Kagura just nodded and started sending out messages.

Inuyasha stayed locked in his office for the rest of the day only allowing Miroku inside. And even he didn't come out till it was ten minutes to leaving time. As the hours went by after lunch Kagome was starting to worry a bit. It wasn't like Inuyasha to not come out and bother her or at the very least annoy her through the phone. When at last she heard the door open she looked up with what she was not going to describe as hope or even disappointment when it was only Miroku leaving.

As Miroku was leaving he looked over to where Kagome was sitting with worried eyes. "I wouldn't go in there if I were you. He is not exactly in the right frame of mind."

"What do you mean? Is it this Naraku business that has gotten him so upset?" All of a sudden the door to Inuyasha's office swung open and a very angry demon appeared. Kagome looked right at his eyes and was grateful to see that they were still gold. Dark and sparking but nonetheless gold.

"Kagome, get your stuff. We are leaving."

She just gaped at him in response. Sputtering "I can't just up and leave. I am not done with today's workload."

Kagome saw movement out the side of her eye so she turned to see Miroku with a frantic expression on his face and him shaking his head and hands as if to warn her not to deny Inuyasha. Unfortunately she wasn't the only one to see Miroku's movements.

A growl was heard and then "Go the hell away Miroku."

"Come on Inuyasha. Don't take your anger out on the poor girl. She already looks scared. You don't need to make it worse." Pleaded Miroku.

Red started to seep into Inuyasha's eyes. "Are you trying to keep me from my mate? She is mine! I will do what I please." He turned to Kagome, "Grab your things. If you choose to disobey me again I will put you over my shoulder and carry you out."

Kagome started to grab her things quickly. "You will not be carrying me."

"You need to calm down Inuyasha." Tried Miroku again. All he got in response was a ferocious growl. "Sorry Kagome. If it is any consolation he won't hurt you. He just might give you a thorough fucking." And with a lecherous smirk he took off.

Inuyasha growled again. Turning to Kaogme he held out his hand "Well he might be right in this case." Kagome reluctantly took his hand and let him lead her out of the office.

"Just so you are aware, me coming with you does not mean that I am coming home with you or allowing any inappropriate behavior to happen."

Inuyasha just smirked "We will see about that."

Once in the car they both buckled up and Kagome looked around. "I am getting a strong sense of de-ja-vu. And I am not particularly pleased. You cannot keep making a habit of manhandling me to get your way. That is not how any of this works!"

"That is how this works Kagome. You are my mate therefore you do as I say and follow my orders. Which also means you come home with me. That is final." With that Inuyasha turned towards the road and flipped on the music; there by muting any further arguments from Kagome.

After not too long of a drive they pulled up into Inuyasha's driveway. Once parked he went around the car and opened Kaogme's door for her. Kagome resigned herself to what the evening was going to entail. Mostly, she was steeling herself against what she knew was going to be a strong seduction. She just hoped she was strong enough to resist.

Holding out his hand he said "Come along mate. Dinner awaits us."

"What do you mean dinner?" asked Kagome "Do you have a chef?"

"Not really. I have a housekeeper who usually leaves meals in the fridge with notes on how to prepare them. But tonight she stayed to get dinner going and will be leaving once we are inside. I can't let my pregnant mate go hungry now can I?" He asked with a grin leading Kagome towards the house.

"Well I suppose I can't exactly say no to a meal. Especially one I don't have to make myself." Responded Kagome. "But, I am not pregnant! I wish you would get that through your thick skull!"

"You still could be. I won't be able to know for sure until the end of the week. So you will be staying here until then just to make sure. I can't let anything happen to you. Especially if you are carrying my pup."

"Are you worrying about this whole Naraku thing again? Because I really don't think you really have anything to worry about. Sure he is a sleaze but it didn't seem like he is the sort to do physical harm. Just more of a threaten and then no follow through." Kagome said while walking through the hallways of Inuyasha's magnificent home. She still couldn't get over how beautiful his home was. There was so much room for a large family. She could just see little ones running about and friends and family over for dinners. 'Stop thinking about babies Kagome! You know that is all crazy and that you are not his mate. Even more you are not pregnant. One night of sex almost never causes pregnancies. Almost.' That word kept floating through her head. What if she was? What would she do?

'Stop thinking about it! You are going to jinx yourself.'

"Well dear. Are you ready for dinner?" asked Inuyasha thinking of the seduction he will be doing throughout the meal.

Looking at Inuyasha's glowing amber eyes and his expression of pure lust, Kagome responded "Ready as I will ever be."

With that Inuyasha opened up the French doors leading to the patio where a candelight dinner was set up. There was a small bouquet of wild flowers with not a single one alike as Kagome was not like any other female he had ever met. Quiet music was playing through the speakers above. The table was set beautifully as there was a red table cloth and just enough candles to illuminate each others faces. It was needless to say Kagome was impressed. If this was the beginning of the night, she was both excited and apprehensive as to what would come next.
