This is the first story I've written for this fandom. In fact, I've only just now developed an interest in this TV Show. Anyway, I really love Emily and Derek together, especially since they got their happy ending. :D This is also a first in another sense: I've never written in this simplistic style. If it's a bit confusing, please let me know and I'll go back and edit it.

P.S. This is not AU so when Derek says he's Emily's big brother, it's just to avoid a longer explanation. It's not like the guy deserved to know anyway. ;P Also, there are a couple of OC guys/girls in this, just some party-goers.

"Emily, what are you doing here?"

"Having a good time; what does it look like?"

"But … at this party?"

"You're here, aren't you?"

"Yeah, but … Casey's not."

"She's my best friend, Derek. We don't have to do everything together."

"Look, Emily, I just don't think you belong in a place like this."

"Why? Because people here drink—and do drugs?"

"Uh, yes! I've seen you get high off sugar—anything stronger and you might explode."

"Derek, I can take care of myself."

"No, Emily, I'm serious. You need to leave—now."

"Derek! Get off! You're not my dad, okay?"

"That's not what I—but Emily—"

"Casey, do you know where Emily is right now?"

"No, Derek, I don't. One, I'm her best friend, not her mom and two, why do you care?"

"Well, Sally invited me to a sorority party tonight and … guess who's here?"

"Oh my god, Derek!"

"Gees, it's not like I brought her!"

"Is she still there?"

"Yeah, I couldn't get her to leave."

"Let me talk to her."

"I would but … she ran off. She got angry when I told her to leave and ran off somewhere."

"Derek, how could you be so irresponsible?"

"Hey, if you're not her keeper, I'm certainly not."

"Find her, Derek! And call me back when you do."

"Hey! Have you seen a girl—short, has curly hair sort of like an afro, and a big teethy smile?"

"It's a big house, man and there're a lot of girls here …."

"Look, man, I need to find this girl. Have you seen her?"

"What are you: her boyfriend?"

"Worse. Her big brother. Now tell me where she went or so help me, I'll—"

"Gees-us, man, calm down! I haven't seen her, alright? Now, let go of me."

"Emily? Emily! I've been looking everywhere—"

"Look, man, she's busy right now."

"Who are you? Emily, c'mon, let's go."

"She's with me now—wait your turn!"

"Why don't you get your hands off her?"

"Or you'll what?"

"Derek!"

"Sorry—Gees, that hurt! Are you okay?"

"I guess so …"

"Did he … hurt you?"

"No … he just wouldn't leave me alone."

"Let's get out of here."

"Please don't say 'I told ya so.'"

"I won't. I'm just … it's a good thing I was there."

"I should've never gone in the first place."

"How did you get to the party? Oh—please, don't tell me you followed me there? Casey is gonna kill me!"

"I didn't follow you, Derek. Patty from Chemistry, she invited me. Well, she told me her brother was taking her and I could come along … if I wanted."

"Patty? Didn't know she had it in her."

"She didn't even show up. She chickened out."

"And you went with her brother anyway?"

"I know stupid, right? I guess I was trying to prove something."

"Yeah, well, I should apologize too. I shouldn't have tried to be your parent. I got a little overprotective, there."

"In the end, I think it worked out. I can't believe you actually knocked out a college guy!"

"Why is that so hard to believe?"

"Derek. You know that I know that you know better than to mess with guys twice your size."

"… He wasn't that much bigger."

"If you say so …"
