The first thing Reid noticed about his relationship with Luke was how everything was very public.

Whenever Luke got the chance he'd kiss Reid, and even though they were usually quick, fleeting kisses when one of them left to go to work, or soft, loving hello kisses when they met for coffee in java, they were very much for everyone else to see. This was all very new to Reid.

Sure he'd been in relationships before, but the affection was often demonstrated behind closed doors and rarely put on show for any one else too see. It was private, and Reid frankly felt ashamed by PDA's with past boyfriends. Reid had never really thought about holding anyone's hand while walking down the street before he'd met Luke, but with him it just seemed like second nature. It seemed like, for Luke, it was almost like breathing, it just sort of happened. He could tell just my looking at Luke as he softly played with the auburn hair at the nape of his neck as they sat on the bench in old town that he wasn't really thinking about it, and that it was almost subconscious.

Reid, on the other hand, always thought about it, with every single simple touch. He thought about how Luke's body seemed to fit with his as they hugged and how their hands seemed to be the perfect match, like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. He wondered if this was what it was like to be in a normal relationship and if the fuzzy, bubbly feeling he got inside his stomach when Luke brushed his thumb across his knuckles was what it was meant to feel like. He thought about how he'd never felt that sensation before.

But the main thing Reid thought about was how a year ago, if any one had caressed his face the way Luke did in public he would've gone all tense and awkward and Reid.

The main thing he thought about was how, when it was Luke, and they sat in Al's with their feet tangled together under the tables, he didn't really care. If fact, he kind of loved it.
