A/N- I beat Tim up a lot...don't I? Whoops...
He's not close enough.
He watches as Tim falls, limp like a rag doll and the comparison kills him but it's the only thing he can think of at the time.
He's not fast enough even with all his speed and powers. All he can do is stand there, hand curled around this guys, this meaningless guy's throat, staring with wide eyes as shock lances through him.
Cassie tries to get there, tries to take off and fly but she's grabbed and pulled back into the masses.
Kon watches Brother Blood, watches as he walks calmly, slowly, towards Tim. And Kon is still standing there doing nothing.
The guy he's holding goes limp suddenly and he tells himself that it's from fear, lack of air maybe and not the bone that he felt give under his unrelenting grip. But he doesn't have time to think about it, doesn't allow himself to spare it a thought as he lifts into the air and prays that he can make it there this time.
Brother Blood's eyes go wide a split second before Kon is tackling him, shooting them both backwards into the cement wall. His TK wraps around him but not the villain and he hears a crack but still doesn't release him, still doesn't step away until he is positive that he's not going to just get back up this time.
Raven appears at his shoulder, face a mask that he cannot and does not want to read. She spares him a glance but keeps her gaze on the man lying on the ground.
"I will watch him. See to Robin."
Part of Kon wants to protest but it's the part of him that comes from Lex Luthor, the part that he's not willing to face up to.
Tim groans when Kon hesitantly touches his shoulder but his eyes flutter open and that's a good sign.
"Superboy?"
Kon crouches down and scans the other teenager for any sign of internal injury or broken bones. He doesn't like the look of Tim's arm but it looks like it's the worst of it. Briefly he thinks of it as a Robin with a broken wing and he wonders when Tim will be able to fly again. He'll just have to help him fly.
"Yeah, I got you Rob." He props Tim up, pulls him close and tries not to focus too much on what would have happened if he hadn't acted, if the panic had have kept it's hold on him.
Tim smiles up at him, a smaller, more broken version of the blinding one he receives when they're with the group, or softer one he receives when it's just the two of them.
Kon can't resist, he needs to wipe away the pain he sees in the smile.
Tim's kiss tastes like copper and pain but underneath it all is Tim. He pulls away, rests his forehead against Tim's and whispers,
"I got you Tim."
