Day Eleven

"You finally find you and I collide"

-Howie Day "Collide"

She was a proud woman. She never chased guys, not even when she was younger, because they were always suppose to come to her.

Not him, though.

The silvery blonde shook her head as she pushed open the door to her brother-in-law's store. She had been stopping by this place more and more frequently to "pick up Wheezes for Victoire." But, truthfully, she usually almost forgot to purchase anything before she left this place.

Gabrielle was here for one reason and it had nothing to do with Wheezes. No, she came here because of him.

She had first taken notice of him when she had been a young girl and had gone to Hogwarts for her sister's Triwizard Tournament. At that time, he had merely caught her eye but she had not paid him much attention after that. It was only when, one day, she was shopping in Diagon Alley that he had really sparked her interest. Now, she couldn't help but to stop in and talk with him at least once a week. It went against everything that she had believed in for the past twenty years of her life but she had started to disregard those rules. Where had they gotten her anyway? She hadn't had a steady boyfriend for years…

The shop was packed full; it reminded her of sardines in a can, so it took Gabrielle a good amount of time to conduct her way through the crowd. This gave her enough time to decide that, yes, today would be the day that she would break all of her rules and ask him out. As she approached the front desk, she flattened her already perfect blonde hair and smoothed her robes. "Salut, Monsieur Jordan," she said in her throaty accent. She had heard Lee mention once that he liked the sound of the French language and so she did nothing to cover her accent up when she spoke with him.

The dark-haired boy looked up from the boxes that he was sorting through and gave her a wide grin. "Hey, Gabrielle. Looking for more Wheezes for your niece?"

Gabrielle allowed herself to smile in return. "Ahh, oui. She really enjoyed ze ones zat you suggested last week."

Lee nodded his head and then disappeared back behind the counter, rummaging through the open boxes. He popped back up after a few minutes and set a few different packages on top of the counter. "We just got these ready to sell and I think she'll really like them," he told her, tapping the top of the largest package. "Is that all?"

Oh Merlin, she had really wanted to ask him on a date but she just couldn't bring herself to do so. It annoyed her slightly that he was thick enough not to notice that she didn't come here to buy things. Sighing, she replied, "Merci, Lee. I – ahh… Victoire really appreciates it." Disappointed that she wasn't able to get the courage once again; she passed him the money and gathered the Wheezes in silence.

Maybe next time, she thought to herself as she walked out of the store.

Once outside, Gabrielle went to place her purchases into her bag. When her hand raked over the largest box, she noticed a small piece of parchment taped onto the top.

"Miss Delacour, how does dinner at six sound?"
