Every day, even after Filch or a house elf removed it, the same purple lipstick writing appeared on the bathroom mirror that faced the toilet where a girl in thick bottle glasses died.

"You Are Beautiful"

Every day, Myrtle floated from the toilet to see the same writing. Most things made her reminisce on her past, and made her cry; but the constant reminder that was made so obvious for her, continued to put a smile on her face. She vowed one day she would catch the girl who kept writing it…

Coated in her regular slather of makeup, hiding any and all fine imperfections she could possibly point out, Lavender snuck her way into the closed bathroom, a stick of her favorite lipstick in hand. She began to write, when a small voice startled her.

"Lavender?"

"Yes Myrtle?" Miss Brown asked, turning, only half of the message written.

"Why do you keep writing it? Is it just another cruel joke to play on me?" Myrtle's voice was soft at first, but it had begun to rise and gain its normal whine to it.

"Because, Myrtle… You are…" Lavender turned, fully looking at the normally-wailing ghost girl, tears now streaming down her own cheeks, streaking them with the black of her mascara.

Myrtle cocked her head, looking Lavender over, and nodded, "You are beautiful too Lavender."

With those words, Lavender sobbed quietly, with a bright smile, wishing so very much that she could hug the ghost. "Thank you, Myrtle… Thank you so very much…." She turned to leave, when she heard a noise from the stall, a ghostly hand pointing at the mirror with the half finished message.

Lavender got the point immediately, and went to the mirror, finishing the message; the emotion in it mixed with her magic. Now not even the strongest magical cleaning could ever get the lipstick off of it.

"You are beautiful!"
