Chapter 3: Enter: Kyuubi no Kitsune! pt2
'What is she thinking about that has her so lost in thought?'
Naru had been playing with Kyuubi's ears for quite a while now but the whole time Kyuubi remained still with a faraway look in her eyes. Every now and then a different emotion would play across her face and that was it. Then Kyuubi finally seemed to come back to her senses immediately noticing the attention being given to her ears. Naru continued to play with Kyuubi's ears and was startled when a rumble sounded loudly through the room. Both occupants' eyes dropped to the fox's chest, one surprised and the other slightly mortified.
Naru's face showed her surprise as she asked, "Are you purring?" She couldn't seem to contain the large smile that had planted itself on her face; she was so pleased at the reaction she had received. By now Kyuubi's face was flushed with embarrassment, but also by another emotion that Naru couldn't seem to understand, one that was causing the pit of her stomach to tighten. 'What is this feeling?' Before she could explore the confusing feeling any further something else seemed to draw her attention away from it.
Looking over Kyuubi once more she finally noticed something that the tails and ears seemed to distract her from, "You're naked!" Blushing right to the roots of her hair, she quickly turned around to give the Kyuubi some privacy. Though she felt embarrassed to have seen her naked that tightening feeling in the pit of her stomach returned even more intense than the first time and making her even more confused at what it could be.
She could hear a giggle come from behind her and then the rustling of cloth being moved over skin. Deeming it safe to look once again, she turned around though still keeping her eyes on the floor just to be safe. She raised her eyes slowly noticing that Kyuubi was now wrapped in the only sheet she had on her bed which was pretty old and tattered. Kyuubi had wrapped the sheet tightly around herself, accentuating her curves and round bottom, but it didn't hide everything due to its condition.
Shaking her head to clear it of any weird thoughts she might have she decided it would be safer to think of something else then how Kyuubi looked.
Curious of how she got there a dozen questions seem to go through Naru's head at once, like 'Didn't the fourth Hokage kill you on the day of the attack five years ago?' or 'Shouldn't you look more like a fox than a little girl?' or 'Why did you say you're my friend?' or 'Why would you want to be my friend?' Since it was too many to ask at the once she decided it would be much easier to choose two of the important ones she wanted answered most.
"How can you be here when there are tales of you being defeated five years ago? How is this possible?" Sadness seemed to shroud the fox's face and seemed to fill Naru with the urge to comfort her, do whatever she could to take that look off her face. 'Why are you sad?'
Kyuubi's eyes took on the far way look similar to earlier when she recounted the events of earlier. After thinking it through she came back to where she was to see Naru still standing in front of her, concerned. 'Ah, my cute little Naru. Thinking of me before herself.'
Being mindful to tread lightly she asks, "Naru, do you remember what happened in that alleyway earlier?" She hated having to bring up bad memories especially when they were so recent but her Naru needed to know the truth and she would not hide anything from her like the cruel villagers have.
She could just see Naru begin to relive the encounter; her eyes had widened considerably and her breathing had quickened so much that she looked close to hyperventilating. She couldn't have her kit panicking because of her. She began to try calming Naru and take away the fear starting to fill her eyes by wrapping her up in her arms and then encasing them both safely with in her tails, ensuring Naru could feel her warmth and know she was there for her. "Shh, it's ok, there's nothing to be scared of. Calm down, kit. Nothing happened and nothing will ever happen while I'm around."
She could feel Naru relax in her arms and tried to carefully bring up the subject again. "Do you remember anything that happened earlier?" Naru was silent for a moment and then she spoke. "I, uh, I remember being forced into the alley and getting my head smashed against the wall. I had passed out but not before I saw a bright red flash appear." Kyuubi could see Naru's eyes widened at the last part and she gasped. "Were you the-?"
She nodded affirmative, "Yes, that was me."
She could tell Naru was trying to think it over and figure it out. She spoke up to clarify. "Naru, you know all the details of the attack on the village five years ago, yes? How the Fourth sacrificed his life to save the village?" Seeing Naru nod her head she continued. "In order to stop my rampage on the village, the Fourth sealed me inside the body of a newborn child." Confusion filled her mates face then she could see the realization clear it away. "Yes, you're that child Naru."
"His dying wish was for you to be treated as a hero. But since I had been sealed inside of you the dumbass villagers treated you like an abomination and for that I am truly sorry. If you want I'll go away, but please don't hate me. The only thing I couldn't stand is my mate despising me. I could care less about what these villagers think."
'Shit, will she want to be my mate knowing that I caused her suffering?' Instead of looking angry Naru asked Kyuubi the question she knew these bastard villagers had made her feel self-conscious about,"Why don't you hate me?"
"I did hate you, at first. But when I looked past my own idiotic self-pity I realized that you were just like me; alone, with no one to love or care for you. I was amazed by you. Every single time someone knocked you down, you came back stronger. Watching you grow and cheering you on from the sidelines, I was struck dumb when I realized I had fallen in love with you."
Since her head was bent she didn't see the look of wonder that had made itself onto Naru's face.
Naru could not believe all that she had learned that night. She finally understood why the villagers constantly went after her. She had been a vessel that had stored the beast that had killed many that night five years ago. But she knew that did not excuse the behavior in which they have given to her all those years.
She had always wondered but now that she knew she didn't feel any different but she wasn't as confused as she had been before. She felt so surprised and happy that someone had defended her. She liked that it had been Kyuubi who defended her. She didn't understand why but it made her feel warm inside. 'No one's ever come to my defense.'
She felt, she couldn't seem to find the word. She had to think a bit but once she thought the word it seemed right. It was…giddy. She felt giddy with excitement. She may have just met Kyuubi but she felt like she had been waiting for her for a long time.
She had been a bit confused hearing Kyuubi say she was her mate. She didn't think anyone like Kyuubi would go for someone like her. But hearing her declaration of love made her heart race and her face heat. She wasn't very sure how she should respond to what Kyuubi had declared. 'I may have just met her but I feel this strong connection to her. I know if I get to know her I can fall in love with her, too.'
Naru could tell the way Kyuubi had her head turned down that she expected her to reject. Making up her mind Naru jumped up and wrapped her arms tight around Kyuubi's neck. "I may not know anything about you but I do know that I like you and if given the chance I can fall in love with you twice as hard."
She could see the surprised fill Kyuubi's face and delighted in the smile that seemed to almost split her face in half.
