Yuffie eyed the tree as her group of friends stood around her. Vincent was growing weary of the idea forming in her eyes; he wondered what was going on in her blatantly drunken mind. She pointed up the tree, turning sideways to stare at her friends. Vincent figured her plan would soon be unveiled.

"New goal," She slurred at them, and he regretted buying her that final drink. Cid shifted beside him righteously.

"You don't le' nothin' hold you back," He nodded, nearly knocking himself over from his own intoxicated state. The gunman extended his arm, steadying the pilot back to safety.

"I think you've had too much," Aeris mentioned timidly to the two, only to be waved off vigorously by Yuffie.

Yuffie planted herself firmly and leapt upward, and to the surprise of them all she still managed to climb near perfectly. Vincent thought Barret might have called her a squirrel, he watched on carefully waiting to catch the sign that she wasn't going to make it. But she did, partly relieving Vincent of worry, but causing a new wave of terror all on its own. He'd never been terribly protective of the ninja; she could take care of herself. However, something about drunks in a tree just made him uneasy.

"Haha!" Yuffie exclaimed, steadying herself on the tree limbs. "I am the drunkest girl in the tree!"

"What a thing to be proud of," Aeris shook her head, Vincent sighed.

"Yuffie, come down now, before you fall."

"You worry too much Vinny!"

And then it happened, as she was waving him off. She swayed drunkenly, unable to regain balance, and tumbled out of the tree. Vincent blindly reacted, catching the falling girl bridal style. He stared into her wide no-longer-innocent eyes, watching her carefully for any sign of ill health. She stared back at him, mixed emotions filling her eyes.

"Vinny," She mumbled quietly, unusual for the girl. "I think it's time for bed."

Before he had a chance to react, or at least set her down, she leapt from his arms and took off for the house. He watched her until the door slammed, hoping she wouldn't get sick from all the sudden movements. Cid apparently had the same notion.

"Just watching 'er is making me sick," Cid remarked, turning an odd green and causing everyone around him to take several steps away.

Vincent, bored and concerned, offhandedly announced his leave as well, before pursuing Yuffie. He checked around the house before heading to the bedrooms, he knocked softly on her door. He received no reply, so he pushed open the door slightly, hoping not to irritate the girl.

"Vincent?" Yuffie's confused voice inquired.

"Um, yeah, just wanted to check and see if you were okay," He said quickly. "I'm going to bed."

"Oh…" Was that disappointment? He shook his head, delusional. "I'm…fine."

He nodded before shutting her door, and turning away. He wished he could tell her what he felt, to have her reciprocate the feelings, he hardly believed she would though. Slowly he trudged to his room. Maybe catching her in such an immediate fashion, holding her in his arms, would ruin him. He refused, however, to let her ever fall completely.
