Cody stood by the railing on the Sky Deck, looking out at the sea. He continued to go over his break up with Bailey in his head. Had he just accepted her with open arms, rather than getting upset about Jean-Luc, maybe he still would have had her. Cody felt a lone tear escape from each eye, and observed as the rain began to fall, the ripples in the water gliding around, the drops cascading around the boat in a haze-like state. Cody turned slightly as he heard footsteps coming in his direction. When he saw that it was Zack, he just turned around again. He really didn't have it in him to deal with Zack's jokes and teasing. He was more than likely going to break down, instead. As the footsteps got closer, Cody moved slightly to leave, but then decided against it. He just looked at the rain again, admiring how free it seemed to be. It didn't have to worry about what humans did. The rain didn't have anything to fight for, and frankly, Cody wasn't sure if he did anymore. The footsteps that had been approaching him had finally come to a stop beside him.
"How are you, Cody?" Zack's voice asked softly. Cody looked up in shock. Zack looked back at him. "Well?"
Cody shook his head and looked back to the water, attempting to hide the tears that had slowly started to fall. "Cody, I heard about what happened in Paris." Zack stated. He turned so he was facing Cody completely.
"So did everyone else, Zack." Cody sighed. His tears were falling faster, and Cody shook his head, attempting to hide them. "It won't change anything. I don't have anything to fight for anymore." Cody continued, his statement coming out in a whimper as his voice cracked. He turned and started to walk away. Zack's had shot out and pulled Cody back. "Just leave me alone, Zack." Cody whimpered.
"No. Not when you're like this." Zack replied. Cody tried to pull his arm away, but soon gave up. He couldn't hold it in anymore, and began to sob. He had expected Zack to immediately tell him to stop crying. He wasn't expecting Zack to pull him into a hug, and tell him that it was okay. He wasn't expecting Zack to kiss his head and hold him protectively. Cody continued to sob. He shook violently in Zack's arms and continued to dampen Zack's clothes with his tears.
"Zack, I don't know what to do! I don't have anything to fight for! Bailey's gone..." Cody sobbed. Zack rubbed Cody's back.
"That's not true, Cody. You can fight for your spot as top student, you can fight for your big brother, but I refuse to let you fight for Bailey. Not again." Zack whispered.
"What? Why can't I fight for Bailey?" Cody asked.
"You need to let go, Cody. Let yourself be free, even if it's just for a minute. Trust me, you'll feel so much better knowing that you aren't constantly living for someone else." Zack responded.
"Is that what you did?"
"What do you mean?"
"When Maddie left." Cody hinted. "Is that what you did?" Zack slowly nodded.
"That's exactly what I did. Just trust me on this one."
"Okay." Cody simply responded. He looked out to the4 sea again and saw that the rain was beginning to let up. "Thanks, Zack." He smiled. Zack kept his arm around Cody's shoulders.
"No problem. Sometimes, you just need your big brother to show you the way."
