Betrayed By The Stars
Narcissa tried furiously to stop crying, but to no avail. She had been lucky, at least, that she'd gotten the letter when she was alone. It would look terribly bad to cry in front of a room full of people, or even the help.
But how could she not cry, when she knew she was loosing him? She had been foolish to think that she wouldn't have her heart broken this time; that was what happened when you cared for someone.
But she had dared to hope that life would be fair, that fate would be kind. She'd almost lost Draco, wasn't that enough? Wasn't that enough punishment for whatever she'd done? But it was never enough.
It was happening again, and with her Grandson. At least he wouldn't be dying... yet he would be dead to her. Just like... Just like...
Andromeda. She'd tried so long to forget that name, but as she thought it more tears burned at her eyes. Yes, it was just like with Andromeda. She'd loved her so much, only to be betrayed by... by fate. And it was happening again. One day, she knew, it would certainly pain her to think the name Scorpius.
First he'd been sorted into Hufflepuff. But she hadn't minded. She'd been proud that he was hardworking, whatever Lucius said. She'd support him no matter where he was placed. He was her little Scorpius, her little grandson. He had the features of his father and few of the faults.
Then he'd befriended blood-traitors. But she hadn't minded. No one seemed to really mind any more. All the kids were befriending blood-traitors.
Then he'd started dating that mudblood. But she hadn't minded. She knew they'd break up, she'd heard it in their voices as they argued from time to time. And then they did break up. And she though he'd learned his lesson.
But now she'd gotten the letter. And she couldn't stop crying. He was marrying a muggle. Not even a muggle-born. A full blown muggle. Not even a squib. A muggle. And she was invited, invited to the wedding. And she wanted to go, she wanted to see him for the last time before she lost him forever. Before his name was burned out of her heart and out of her life.
