Chapter Eight
Coming To A Crossroad
Last time on Harry Meets RuneScape…
Moving north towards Varrock, Harry thought about the last couple of hours. He looked around at the little town of Lumbridge; he knew that there might not be a way home. The way the Dark Lord was acting he may have thought the same thing. So for now they would stick together, that is if they wish to survive in this unknown world.
Now…
The idea was to go Varrock and see what was needed to buy a house so they would have a place to stay.
But no… the Dark Lord had to stop and watch the farmers working hard to take down some livestock.
They seemed to be have a hard time, the cows and chickens looked to be re-spawning, when it looked like they were going to win, more chickens appeared and they move from the cows to the birds and then back to the cows. To Harry it seemed they would reappear out of one were.
Voldemort had jumped in and started to help the farmers in killing the cows. Harry knew that this would shock most of the Wizarding World but what was he to do.
Looking around he saw some women cooking and preparing the meat from the animals.
'Maybe I could help them,' he thought.
The group of women looked up from their work and smiled at Harry. It was always a blessing when strangers helped them with the harvesting. They would give these strangers food, hide and feathers for all of the help. If the strangers stayed the night and help the next day, they would give more to them. The harvest days were long, hot and a pain in the ass.
The women showed Harry what to do with the chickens and cows. Taking off the feathers on the chickens and cutting up the chicken after gutting it. Skinning the cows and gutting the cows.
So taking the feathers off of the damn birds was hard and not fun. Cutting in to the animals was a little gross. Harry knew that he would need to get over the sick feeling of removing and sorting the insides of both chicken and cow. After all if there was no way home then this would be his life.
This was so new he was not paying attention to the time. Soon the sun was setting and the work was done for the day.
The women show Harry to the river near by the farm house so he could wash up for the night. The women took his clothes without him realizing what they did as Harry washed his body off.
Looking for his clothes he found some different ones on a rock near him. They were clean and new looking. The outfit was still that for a female. The top show his shoulders since the shoulder-straps were small and arms. A purple sash tied around his waist to hold the top in place. The bottoms had buckles up on the upper leg and the boots covered the rest of the leggings.
What is it with people and giving me girl cloths, Harry thought.
Harry looked for his other clothes and found them being washed by some the kids.
When they were done washing the clothes, they put them on a line to dry. Moving away from the kids, Harry looked around to see were the women had gone to.
When he found them they pulled him into the house to prepare some food for the hungry men. He ate with the women as they cooked and talked about what the Duke and the King.
With that done they show Harry to a room. There was a bed up near the wall away from the door. When he saw that bed he just lay down after saying thank you to them.
Thinking about the day he had he was surprised by the small conversation that took place. They just worked. There was no known gossip or anything else to say after Harry fill into routine.
Harry just lay there for two hours resting on the bed when the door opened again. It was him…
Coming To A Crossroad
Voldemort was enjoying himself greatly. Killing these stupid animals was something that could go on for days. He helped put down a cow and put it in to a wagon to go to the women who were harvesting the creatures for meat and whatever else they were doing.
He moved then to take down the next beast, then the next. All day they put down the cows that seemed to re-spawn five minutes latter.
The wagons were loaded four cows each. They soon though were done for the day.
Voldemort followed the men back to the farm house. On the tables inside the house was laden with food, roasted chicken, baked potatoes, grilled carrots, tomatoes, cabbage, and fresh bread and butter.
Like the men from the field, the Dark Lord sat down and ate the feast that made him drowsy. One of the women showed him to a room after he cleaned up from the day's work.
Going inside the room he looked to the bed and saw Harry laying there looking at him. Voldemort was too tired to care. He moved to the only bed and fell on to it.
"Wow… Muggles are hard workers." The Dark Lord turned his head to look at Harry. "So how was your day?"
Harry could not help it he started to laugh hard. Looking at the man next to him he could help it. He smiled, "Long and gross. I help butcher the chickens and cows. Tomorrow well be the same. But really morning we are going to the field to pick the crops."
"What fun!" the Dark Lord said sarcastically.
The two of them lay there for a few minutes before they drifted of to sleep.
Coming To A Crossroad
Harry jumped awake when the door to the room slammed shut. Getting up he moved down stairs to see that the women where all up making breakfast. He was noticed by the female and pulled over to help with the cooking.
After eating his fill, he was then pulled out to the field to harvest the crops that needed picking.
The women laughed at some of the kids that were helping. The group worked until noon, and then they moved back to the house. Harry stared in disbelief at the wagons heavy with cows.
Oh my god… Harry sighed and moved to help the women.
Coming To A Crossroad
Voldemort sighed as he left the room that morning, letting the door slam shut behind him.
Laughing quietly he went down stairs to see some of the women cooking. One moved up to him with a heave plate of food and warm mug of ale.
After making the food and drink vanish, he headed out to the cow pen. The some men were there early and some were still just waking up and heading out.
Walking by the wagons he smiled at the amount of work the Harry would have to do.
The two would work all day and leave the next to head up and find out how to get at place to live in this weird world.
A/N: any way… poor Harry what was I thinking… oh well, lol!
