Day Three
"Round here we talk just like lions
But we sacrifice like lambs"
-Counting Crows "Round Here"
From an outsider's perspective, they were so very wrong together – opposites.
When people glanced at Victoire, they were only able to see one thing; perfection. She was the girl with the god-like looks that could only be achieved with the Veela heritage that she possessed. Others only noticed the physical beauty that she was blessed with and never took the time to see how weak she was on the inside. They saw a girl with looks to die for and self-confidence to match; they never saw her imperfections.
Victoire was far from perfect and she knew it; she had always known it. She woke up every morning and took the time that most girls used to put on makeup to build up her strong front. A front that made her seem oh, so arrogant, narcissistic, vain – when the truth was that she h a t e d herself. She hated that every single time she looked in a mirror she wishedwishedwished that Dominique's reflection would be her own. She envied her younger sister with her shimmering blonde hair that put the sun to shame, her large doe eyes, her flawless smile. She despised the fact that she couldn't stay in a relationship longer than a few months, that her heart was merely half of what it should be. People didn't notice her flaws because she covered them up so damn well.
When people looked at him, all they saw were flaws. Evilevilevil. They couldn't look past the fact that he had changed – Draco had changed. He regretted, he apologized, he changed his views but it didn't matter because people could and would never forget who he was, who he had been. All people saw when they looked at him was one thing – the thing that plagued his left forearm – his biggest regret.
Maybe they were so wrong for each other – but, if they were, then they didn't want to be right. People couldn't see their similarities. People couldn't see that they both, underneath their heavy coats of armor, were so, so weak and vulnerable. All people thought about was how that home-wrecker Victoire Weasley was being corrupted by a Death Eater. They were too blind to notice that Draco's heart fit perfectly with Victoire's, creating that whole heart for which she had longed. It did not matter to either of them because they both learned ages ago not to value other's opinions.
