"There are many things that I would like to say to you

But I don't know how."

-Oasis "Wonderwall"

Wordswordswords filled her brain but never quite able enough to escape through her mouth. She wanted to tell him everything, her true feelings, but so many damn things prevented her from doing so. How could she even begin to let him know?

Lily wanted to let Teddy know that it was his smile that guided her out of her darkest hours and back into the light. When she was at her worst, lowest – so damn broken to bits and pieces from everything – all he had to do was grin and she would feel hope again. Lily loved that bright smile that lit up his whole flawless face. The smile that made her feel like everything could and would work out someday, no matter how unpromising it seemed at the moment.

His laugh. How could she ever put in words how much she cherished his laugh? It was better than her favorite song. She felt warm and fuzzy whenever that delightful sound reached her ears. He had that contagious type of laugh that practically forced one to chuckle along with him. She could never tell him that it was his laugh that she lived to hear.

Teddy was the best hugger. Yeah, that might sound cliché to you but that is because you've never been hugged by him. It was like clockwork, every time she was just about to leave, he would flutter his spellbinding eyes and hold out his arms. Her stomach would always fill up to the brim with butterflies so quickly as she walked into his outstretched arms. Lily would wishwishwish that those few seconds that his arms were wrapped around her would last a lifetime. His kind hands on her back, his sweet smell filling her nose, his soft hair tickling her cheek – pure bliss. Every single one of his hugs meant the world to her – yes, even that one time when he was messing around and pulled her towards him too quickly, causing her to crash her lip onto his collarbone. He had felt so bad that he had given her a fat lip but she had just shaken her head and told him she was fine. What she hadn't told him was that she was fine because she was with him.

Lily didn't know exactly why she couldn't just tell him how much he meant to her, she just couldn't. Maybe it was because he would know how much she really needed him and a Potter-Weasley girl should never need anyone to that extent. Maybe it was because she would feel too damn vulnerable. No. Those things were all factors that contributed to her issue but they weren't the real reason. It was because she was afraid that he wouldn't feel the same way.
