"The saddest thing in the world is loving someone who used to love you."

There was once a time when Fleur Weasley was in love with him. A long time ago, they had met at the Quidditch world cup held in England. Bulgaria had lost, but he had caught the snitch and was still the teen heartthrob. Fleur was much, much prettier than any girl he had ever seen, but Veela charm held little significance for him. They were many other beautiful girls out there, in love with him, and after a quick snog, he had thrown Fleur away, never realizing how deep her feelings for him went, never realizing how much he broke her.

But destiny kept throwing them in each other's path, and very soon, they found each other face to face again, at the Triwizard Tournament held at Hogwarts.

She had nodded her head in acknowledgment when she saw him, while the other girls flocked around him.

He had still not given much thought to the beautiful girl, and had attended the Yule ball with Hermione Granger, a girl who may not be that pretty, but was remarkably intelligent.

Fleur had gone to the Yule ball with Roger Davies. He pretended not to notice, but he had. Yet at the ball, they both found themselves with each other yet again.

Hermione had gone off somewhere, and in order to run away from the other girls, he had been hiding behind the drinks bar. She had been there, sipping the butterbeer spiked by some Gryffindors.

She noticed him, but did not say anything. After standing there, together, for nearly half an hour, he finally made the first move.

"I vink it's going to rain, don't you?" He had said, trying to make a conversation.

She looked at him as if he had grown wings.

"Aa zee mad? Vain? At Zis time of the year? Krum, zee looks like you have finally lost it,"

He appeared to be indifferent and continued on, though now, he realized how stupid it had sounded.

"Vell, it can. You never knov,"

"Zee's next to impossible. But wait for zee's vain all night if you wish to." She had smirked at him and walked away.

That was the first time he had realized what an idiot he was to throw Fleur Delacour away.

They had again interacted after the death of the other Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory. He had found her crying by herself near the lake.

He had wrapped his arms around her and she sobbed against his chest.

"Shhhh," He had whispered in her hair, "it's okay."

"Zee 'ill never be okay. He-who-may-not-be-named haz returned. Iz 'ill never be okay." She had sobbed on and on and he had comforted her.

As he watched her getting married to Bill Weasley, he realized, he had indeed made the biggest mistake of his life, by throwing away Fleur Delacour, the only girl he had ever been emotionally attached to.

A/N: It was hard getting Fleur and Victor's accents right. I have tried my best. Do let me know what you think :)
