Some days can only get better. There can be days when a series of bad events make the bad day escalate until it can not possibly get worse. The day you just had has to be one of those days.
You wake up late because your alarm clock decided to not go off and you wake up with a humongous headache which always happens when your daily beauty routine is disturbed. You lie in bed for a moment, hoping your head will calm down, before you realise that by now you're usually at school.
'School. Noooooooooo... Not school...' you moan to yourself before dragging yourself out of bed, wincing as your head complains at the effort and dies with a thump and multicoloured stars. Just as you've recovered from the pain this brain death causes, you stub your toe on the bedside table. You spend the next ten minutes whimpering and cursing as you hop wildly around, clutching at your sore toe.
Finally you recover and start finding some clothes to wear but you can't find your favourite top and by the time you find a similar one you are so tired you don't even notice that your top and jeans don't even go together, let alone match until it's too late. You sigh at the cruelty of the world before brushing your hair. Or try to but you can't find a comb or brush or even your straighteners so you give up and stomp up the stairs to the front door. You nearly forget your keys and even when you find them you nearly forget to lock up after you but finally you're out and on the way to school.
Ten minutes later you're still in the driveway because the car won't start and you can't seem to find the energy to find out why. Instead you sit in the comfy seat and stare morosely out at the street. You've decided that the world is conspiring against you so you have opted to do nothing, if only to save your remaining sanity.
A door opening, your front door in fact, makes you jump and you're confused as to why your dad is walking toward you. Shouldn't he be at work right now?
"Kurt. Why are you out here? It's a Sunday."
You groan in answer as the realization sinks in and you slump forward against the steering wheel, jumping when the horn sounds. Some days can only get better...
