She laughed at him.

She stood and threw her head back, full of mirth. Silly, silly boy.

Alice just watched and grinned as everything that she predicated would happen came true.

She had tried desperately to warn him of what Lily was going to do to him but he didn't listen. He didn't want to believe her. Alice tried to tell Sirius that Lily didn't plan on keeping him very long - that she was just using him to get back at James for dating that Ravenclaw girl. Alice told him not to get attached because that flower belonged with a lion and no star could stand in the way.

No, you're just mad - jealous - because you liked me before Lily did.

She smiled to herself as she recalled the words that he had told her in that confident voice of his. She bet all of her money that he was not feeling that confident now. He wasn't lying, though; Alice did really like that haughty Gryffindor. What he didn't realize was that she wouldn't always be there. She was not going to kick around rocks, waiting for him to come back and sweep her off her feet.

So Alice chuckled at him, now. She had been so right. Lily was going to drop Sirius any day because her plan had worked - James had gotten jealous. Alice shook her head knowingly as Sirius clung so desperately to Lily's old, empty promises. He wouldn't give up but sooner or later he would have to - he couldn't hang onto her meaningless words forever.

Alice would be there when he fell into the dark abyss. She would watch as the once unbreakable Sirius broke for the first and last time. When he finally found the scattered pieces of his heart and would try and hand them to Alice to put them back together she would say "no" and turn to Frank. James had Lily and Frank had Alice - but who did Sirius have? No one.
