Singing for the Iron Man Chapter 13

I own nothing. Surprise! :)

Hermione POV

"This is so exciting!" Renesmee squealed as we entered the room she had been given. She clapped her hands together and grinned at us.

Ginny grinned as she put her bag on the floor and the magazines on the bed. Nessie picked up one of the magazines and began to turn the pages, her eyes wide with wonder as she took in all of the moving pictures.

"I dont know if I will ever get use to this," she whispered as she came across an article about the recent unicorn migration south of London. The pictures of all of the beautiful creatures running around an open field that had been turned into a rescue shortly after the war was breath taking.

"I know what you mean," I agreed, smiling at my new friend.

It was amazing to me how close I felt to the girl sitting across from me. I had never been one to make friends quickly. Merlin knew it had taken me months to befriend Harry and Ron. Sometimes I wondered if we would have become friends if not for that bloody troll. There was something about this vibrant girl that made me want to be around her. She had such a big heart and she always saw things in a way I would never have thought to see them. Renesmee was a brilliant girl too and at the way she was learning about magic, she would be far beyond the average first year student.

"Did it take you long to adjust to the magicial world?"Nessie wondered, looking up from the story she had been reading.

"There are times that I feel like I am still adjusting to the magical world," I admitted. "Being a muggleborn was never an easy thing, but I worked harder then everyone else to prove that I belonged here. There were times, however, when something would come up that others would talk about that I had no idea about. There are somethings that the wizarding world have chosen not to write about in books. Those things have been most difficult for me to realize. I've always thought that any problem, any question really that I had could be found in a book. But not everything you need to know about the wizarding world can be found in a book."

Ginny gasped dramatically, cluching her chest as she did. "Quick,I need to call Madam Pomfey to check you over for a curse! I never thought I would hear those words leave the mouth of Hermione Granger."

"Shut it you!" I laughed, throwing a pillow at the red head, causing Nessie to giggle. "I still firmly believe that most problems can be answered through books."

"There's the witch we all love," Ginny exclaimed, dodging the next pillow I threw her way. "You really are rubbish at throwing things. You should stick to reading. Or writing love notes back and forth to a gorgeous vampire."

Bloody nosy git, I thought, feeling my cheeks darken as Ginny wiggled her eyes at me.

"I really have no clue what you are talking about," I insisted as I pulled out a pair of sleep shorts and a vest to change into.

"I think you do Hermione," Renesmee smiled, picking up a quil as she sat back against the pile of pillows. "You and Uncle E were pretty much ignoring everyone else in the room. I haven't seen him smile so much in a long time." She put the magazine that had been at the top of the stack that Ginny had brought with her and read out loud as she began that rediculous quiz.

"Number one: You are stuck on a deserted island with the Savior of the Wizarding world and can only bring one thing with you. What would you bring? A, a hair brush with built in charms to make sure you stay beautiful. B, a bottle of your favorite scent to make sure you always smell amazing. C, a book about The Boy Who Lived and his adventures, so you will have something to talk about. Or D, none of the above," she snorted as she circled D.

"What the bloody hell are these people thinking?" I asked, laughing as I moved closer to read over Nessie's shoulder as she giggled and read the crazy quiz.

"That they wanted to sell magazines, I assume," Ginny answered as she finished changing into her sleep pants and t shirts. She then took the seat on Nessie's other side, looking down at the magazine. "People assume they know Harry because of the stories they've heard or the things that they've seen him do over the past seven years. Or even really before that. So they all think they know exactly how he wil act or what he will say."

"That is true," I agree, shacking my head at a question about the "Hauntingly beautiful green eyes" and if they were real or not.

"I hate when people think that they know who you are or what you are just because of the things you have done. Or the things you can do," Renesmee said, circling B on the final question.

"Let's see if you are compatible with the Boy who lived, shall we?" Ginny grinned as she pulled the magazine off of Nessie's lap and placed it on her own. She went through all of the answers that were given and looked at the key the editors of the column had placed at the bottom of the page. She leaned over the page, her hair moving to frame her face where we couldn't see it.

"Okay Renesmee, are you ready for this burning question to be answered. Are you compatible with the Savior of the Wizarding world?" she asked dramatically, clutching the book to her chest as she gave Nessie and I a look of pure wonder.

Nessie laughed and shrugged, sitting with her legs underneath her. "I guess I'm ready. I just took it because it made me giggle."

"Well, according to this quiz from people who have no clue who the real Harry Potter truly is, you are by far the least bit compatible with him because, and this is a quote from the magazine, so don't think this is me saying it." Ginny cleared her throat and started in her best Dolaras Umbridge impression, "You have no real chance of ever being with the Savior of our World because you do not understand what is really important to him. You could not be farther from the witch that Mr. Potter deserves."

Nessie and I laughed as Ginny flipped her hair over her shoulder and threw the magazine down on the floor by her bag.

"That quiz is nothing but a pile of rubbish," I laughed, looking over at Nessie to make sure she understood that.

"I know that,"she smiled, sitting up. "I answered the questions how I saw fit and I knew that they weren't the answers that that magazine was looking for. Harry is above all of the air headed answers that they had had in there."

Ginny and I exchanged a look and smiled at the young women. She was truly years older the her eleven years on earth, in more then just her looks.

"So, do you have a thing for Mr. Potter, Renesmee?" Ginny sing-songed, grinning like the Cheshire cat.

"Shhh!" she exclaimed, looking at the closed door as if someone was going to burst into the room at any moment. "You can't say things like that where they can hear you."

"Everyone is in the other room, through several closed doors," Ginny said, trying to reassure her.

"Actually Ginny, vampires have extraordinary hearing," I informed her, standing up as I pulled out my wand and walked closer the the door. "I should have done this a when we first came in, but I completely forgot."

"What are you doing?" Nessie asked as she walked over to stand beside me as I placed privacy and silencing spells around the room so that no one would be able to hear us.

"There are my different charms and spells that you can cast around a room or area that you are in that will keep what is being said private," Ginny explained as I put my wand back away.

"No one can hear what's being said?" she asked in wonder, her brilliant mind moving a mile a minute. "I wonder if that means that it will block out what a person is thinking as well."

"I would think so," I said, grinning.

"You have to teach that," Nessie insisted, pulling out her wand, ready to learn this amazing skill.

Ginny sighed."Merlin, I thought that you were bad, Hermione! Now we have two of you," she grumbled

I threw a pillow at the red head, who used her Quidditch skills to quickly dodge the flying objects. Nessie laughed as I began throwing pillow after pillow at my fellow Gryffindor.

"Bloody hell women!" Ginny laughed throwing herself down on the bed. "I didn't know you had such an arm."

Grinning, I pulled my hair into a pony tail. "I have my secrets."

Ginny and Nessie exchanged a glance and both began grinned wickedly, making me seriously regret my previous statement.

"I'm sure you do," Ginny started, smirking at her bestfriend. "Would you like to share with us what you have been doing with the hunky vampire man."

"Hunky vampire,"Nessie cackled, holding her belly as she laughed hysterically.

"There isn't much to tell," I insisted, picking at a piece of string that was hanging off of the blanket. "He's fun to talk to and he treats me like a normal human being. He doesn't treat me as a walking, talking encyclopedia. He doesn't look at me with pity, because he doesn't know all that I've been through the last few years. Emmett just acts normal with me. It's rather nice."

Ginny hugged me tightly, understanding what I was saying. The only people who treated me that way was Harry and the red head sitting next to me. As amazing as the rest of the Weasley's were, they all looked on my with such sadness and pity at times it made me want to scream.

"I know that you just fought a war," Nessie started, looking at me, not breaking eye contact. "How bad was it for you, if you don't mind me asking?"

"You definitely have the right to know since you are about to join our world. The war was hard on all of us," I said, smiling sadly, tears already forming in my eyes. "We lost many people we loved. Ginny lost her brother Fred."

"George's twin?" Nessie wondered, having seen a picture of the duo above the check out at their joke shop.

Ginny nodded, swallowing the lump in knew was still there. "Hermione lost both of her parents, after taking very great care of making sure they were safe."

The young new witch gasped and threw her arms around me, causing the tears I had been trying to hold a bay to overflow. "I'm so sorry, Hermione."

"Thank you Nessie," I said after a few minutes, giving her a tearful smile. "It's still hard and even though I know I have so much support, sometimes you just want that one piece of home that has always been yours, you know?"

Nessie wiped her eyes and nodded, sighing. "I actually do know. And so does Uncle E."

"How so?" Ginny and I asked together, cause Nessie to smile slightly.

"When I was younger, our family was put into danger, just because of how different I am. It's not a normal thing for there to be a half human, half vampire. Someone saw me playing with Jake and my mom and went and told the Voulturi. They are basically the leaders of the vampire world. The three leaders gathered up their army and other talented vampires in our world and made their way to our home. After somethings that my parents have tried to keep from me, the Voulturi decided that I wasn't illegal, that I was actually just a "Remarkable individual". Alice saw many possibilities and it came really close to my whole family losing their lives."

"Merlin, Nessie that sounds bloody awful," I said, wondering how they got away from these vampire leaders.

"It gets worse," she muttered, sighing as she readjusted her pillows. "We were all excited, because we could finally go on with our lives. Jake was planning on coming with our family as we have to move often because no one ages. Alice and Jasper had just got back from a couples get away we were planning a move. Uncle E and Aunt Rosie planned on going on their own retreat before we moved. They went to an island that us to be Grandma Esmes. They stayed there for a few weeks, enjoying their time together. But Aunt Rosie missed me and was ready to come back home to see me. While Uncle E was in the shower, a member of the guard came and killed my Aunt Rosie."

Tears were rolling down my face as Nessie composed herself, taking a shaky breath. Nessie had mentioned briefly that Emmett had been married but that his wife had died ten years before. She just hadn't told me the story behind her death.

"Alice saw everything too late, which really upset her. They were really close. The whole family was. We still are. They went down and got him from the island. I don't know much about what happened after that, as they made sure I was away from everything. They didn't want me to know. When they got back with Uncle E, I knew he was thinking about leaving us. Aunt Rosie was his life. He loved her more then anything in the whole world. She's the one who ran him to Papa to be changed. I touched his face and showed him all of my memories of Aunt Rosie and how much I would miss him if he went away. He's never left my side since that day."

The room was quiet as we processed the information that Nessie had just shared with us. I looked over at Ginny and saw her rub her eyes, trying to make the tears go away. Poor Emmett, I thought, wiping my own tears. I couldn't imagine that kind of pain. I knew the pain of losing my parents. I could only imagine the pain of losing the one you loved the most.

"Merlin, we look horrible," Ginny said, looking at the mirror that was on the wall beside the bed. She got up and walked over to it and wiped at her red eyes, shaking her head.

I laughed and shook my head, hugging Nessie. "Thank you for sharing that with us. It sounds like you were close with Rosie."

"I was. Aunt Rosie had always wanted kids of her own and when mom found out she was pregant with me, she was the only one that sided with mom to keep me. She helped take care of me when mother was turning into a vampire. And she helped take care of me up until she was killed," she smiled sadly as she thought about her aunt. "She was so pretty, too. Would you like to see a picture of her?"

"Of course," we agreed. I was eager to see the women who held Emmett's heart for all of those years.

Nessie walked over to her purse and pulled out a small album. Sitting back down on the bed between us, she put the photo album on the bed and opened it to the first page.

"This is a picture of the family right after I was born and mom was turned," she stated, explaining what we were looking at. On the couch sat Edward and Bella with a baby that looked to be 5 or 6 months old. Directly behind them stood Carlisle and Esme, smiling proudly down at the little family that sat in front of them. Sitting on the arm of the couch beside Edward was Alice, while Jasper stood next to her,his hand protectively on her shoulder. And sitting next to Bella, smiling the most brilliant smile I had ever seen, was the most gorgeous women I had ever seen. She was looking at baby Nessie as if she were her daughter and that she was the most precious thing on the planet. Standing next to her was Emmett, beaming down at his wife. He looked so proud, so in love with this gorgeous women.

"Bloody hell, she was a breath taking beauty," I whispered. How could I even think that a man as handsome as Emmett, who had a wife as beautiful as Rosie, would want anything to do with me. He's probably just being nice because he feels guilty about the whole wanting to suck my blood. I should have known better to even think for a second that there could be something there.

"She was," Nessie agreed with me, not knowing the internal turmoil that was happening inside me.

"Where is Jacob in the picture?" Ginny wondered as she looked over the photograph. Being raised in the magical world, she always stares at photos that have no magic in them almost as if willing them to move.

"He's the one that took the picture," she replied, grinning. "This is actually one of the last pictures of the family that he's not in."

"What's going on with you and Jacob? I would give anything for a bloke to look at me that way," Ginny said, leaning back on her arms.

Renesmee blushed, closing the album and shrugging. "He's my best friend in the whole world. I know that I can tell him anything and if I ask him, he won't tell a soul. Unless it will put me in danger, then he will move Heaven and Earth to make sure that I am safe. Even if that means making me angry. He's been here for as long as I can remember."

I smiled at the beautiful girl, knowing about the imprint. Jacob was in love with her and I didn't think it had anything to do with the imprint. I definitely agree with Ginny, I thought to myself with a sigh, I would give anything to have someone look at me the way Jacob looks a Nessie. Anything.
