I was a little sad to see that there was no Jeanette and Simon moment like there was for Alvin and Brittany and Theodore and Eleanor. So, I decided to make my own. This takes place before Simon is appointed the "litter monitor".

Simon walked along outside the school in the outdoor cafeteria. Students were eating, laughing and talking with friends, or studying. Alvin, as usual now, was hanging out with the football players, showing off by throwing grapes into the air and catching them in his mouth. Simon rolled his blue eyes, and saw Theodore discussing poster ideas for the Toys for Tots donation collection with Eleanor. Theodore shuffled his back paws every few moments, a little sheepish. Eleanor was the same, her sparkling green eyes looking down and smiling, but she glanced around quickly. Simon wondered what she was afraid of. Brittany was no where in sight; maybe she was with the cheerleading squad down at the football field.

Simon heard a sigh from above, and looked up to see Jeanette sitting atop a lunch table studying a biology book. She readjusted her glasses, her eyes squinting in concentration. Simon breathed deeply and leapt up onto the table next to her.

Jeanette jumped up a bit, her tail swooshing in agitation. When she realized who it was, her deep violet eyes lit up and she smiled. Simon's ears pinned back in embarrassment.

"Hello, Jeanette," he said, trying to sound confident. Jeanette rubbed one arm absentmindedly.

"Hi there, Simon," she said quietly. Simon tried to ease her shyness by pointing at the biology book.

"Having some trouble?" Jeanette blinked, then looked down at the book.

"Oh, yes, yes I am, actually," she said. She pointed to one problem. "I can't seem to figure this one out. Think you could help me?" she asked hesitantly. Simon nodded and smiled.

"Of course. I think I know what you did wrong," he said, reaching for her pencil. But Jeanette already had it, and his paw rested on hers for a moment. Immediately they both jerked away, the pencil falling on the table. Simon cleared his throat and picked it back, beginning to write the problem out.

"Hm," Jeanette mumbled when he was finished. Her back paw reached up to scratch her side. "Yes, I think I get it now. Thank you, Simon," she said, staring into his eyes. Simon felt his heart flutter, and couldn't pull his gaze away from her violet eyes. He felt himself smile idiotically.

"You are very welcome," he said, sighing. Jeanette looked down, blinking slowly, a smile lifting her furry cheeks.

Suddenly a clunk made them both look up as a student walked by. He had thrown a milk carton on the ground, right next to the garbage can. Before Simon could accuse, Jeanette scowled and leapt onto the ground, picking up the carton.

"You need better aim!" she cried after the student, but she didn't hear her. Muttering, she threw the carton into the garbage and climbed back onto the table. She looked at Simon. "Sorry, littering just annoys me," she said. Simon nodded.

"I couldn't agree more," he said. Jeanette smiled at him.

Wow, she really is perfect, Simon thought joyfully.
